I used to use Standard Notes for a while (didn’t self-host the server) but for various reasons switched over to Joplin, syncing the data between devices with Syncthing.

The Bluesky user experience is lightyears ahead of Mastodon.

I feel like Facebook is much worse for that, but I haven’t touched Facebook in many years so I couldn’t tell you why I feel that way.

I’ll keep running W10 on my current machine, but when I build the next one I’m very seriously considering going Linux. My only concern is that many of the software I use regularly don’t have Linux versions.

It’s good for when you want to keep up with what people or organizations you’re interested in are up to. Artists, authors, game developers, etc.

It sucks for any kind of in-depth content or conversation, including politics.

Also Conquest of Paradise for me! I had the tune randomly pop up in my head for well over a decade, probably close to two, without having any idea what it was. Every few years I tried finding out what it was, but to no avail. Online melody searches weren’t that good, and when I hummed the melody to people or played it on the piano, people either had no clue or, at best, were like “that sounds familiar but I have no idea what it is”. I even toyed with the idea that I had come up with the melody myself, though I did find it unlikely.

Furthermore, it’s not that the original scientists failed to produce true-color images. The original published images of Neptune had deliberately enhanced colors to better show some of the features of the cloud surface, and the description text of the images said as much. But that nuance was quickly forgotten and everybody just took the deep blue coloring to reflect the actual color of the planet, which spread to depictions of the planet everywhere.

There are roughly speaking two kinds of systems. The kind of system where Bachelor is the default degree you get from university, and you can go on to get a Masters and/or a doctorate. And the other kind of system where the default university degree is a combined Bachelor and Masters, and you can study further to get a doctorate.
