Unfortunately the author has a few paragraphs that miss the mark and strike me as coming from more of a centrist or right-wing “kids these days are too soft” which feels very off-base and disconnected from the issue.
Welcome to The Atlantic. It’s telling they think all these issues are because of phones and not other aspects of society or something like the looming, ever present threat of climate change.

Yep. I kept using Reddit with relay but now I’m going to use it so much less. The official app is garbage and I will never pay a monthly subscription to use Reddit

And I think we’re aware things won’t happen quickly, but that doesn’t mean we have to be uncritical of capitalist politicians who are also actively hostile to leftism.
Also every inherently flawed, means tested, half measure liberal policy that gets confused for leftism (like Obamacare, which was based on Heritage Foundation ideas) just makes it harder to get support on the left.

This happened to me earlier. also reset my password and got locked out. At one point I was able to log back in so I think it’s possibly a server load issue

This is what happens when you make your website amenable to conservatives. That sub has grown more popular through the years and it’s thanks to its satellites like KiA and others that organized and spread conservative messaging.
And right now they’re taking victory laps so of course it’s got a lot of activity
