My experience with it was not like that… resources were thin but decision makers were poor at managing and simply wanted to take in the buzz to make it seem like they were doing better than they actually were. They could’ve made another Office Space movie about us. Needless to say, it’s no surprising the CTO left and later on the top division chief left… all the while, management kept putting pressure on making sure we fulfilled the caveats of agile/scrum even though we didn’t have the bandwidth to do all of it. Documentation is important, sure, but when management makes everything a P1 just cuz they failed to see things though… well, don’t find the time to put everything down in the kanban… yada yada yada. No thanks

What are the odds of countries other than the US starting to take ownership of crucial FOSS projects in the same way IBM now owns Red Hat; in the past there was Nessus, which sold out on us, etc. Like literally make sure the US is dependent on the rest of the world and make them hurt.

There was a server I poked around in once that required members to provide phone number just to join. Seems very unethical considering all the bad things that can happen from identity theft or stalking… it’s not like mods are employees for Discord. They’re just random mofos. Most pages weren’t heavy js bloat. Lots more adware, at least in an obvious way. Google search wasn’t faster than other search engines. Websites (even for well known companies) would actually have downtime for maintenance and there wasn’t such a focus on having six 9s worth of availability. Could also probably hack a lot of what was out there back in the day. I kind of miss it but I really don’t. Nostalgia factor is only just that… very fleeting. Only thing I miss the most is used to being able to watch porn on my 3DS. The sites I used were still not using the weird players they use now and so mostly everything I could play. It would take a hot min to load but would come through eventually. Oh well.

Funny, I always thought it would be Canonical getting into this kind of trouble with snaps. Oh well…
