I’m pretty sure they technically are but no one cares enough to stop their sale. Obama banned “vape flavorings targeting children” which all of them seem to be. I’ve only seen them for sale in vape/tobacco shops. Places that get regulated, like gas stations, aren’t carrying them. At least around where I am in the USA.
Edit. Doing further research… I guess they didn’t?
My main thing is I hate it being used as a replacement for human creativity. I definitely think it has its uses. I like using DLSS and DLAA in games that support it. For the most part it’s made my gaming experience better. I see its usefulness with generating conversations for NPCs in a game. That’s crazy cool but it needs to be tiptoed around. It shouldn’t be used to replace writers, voice actors or artists.
I signed up for Midjourney a while back to see what all the hoopla is about. As I sat there refining my prompt and regenerating OVER and over and over to hopefully get something that wasn’t all fucked was such a waste of my time and an exponential waste of compute and electricity to generate what is essentially instant garbage. It’s crazy and I felt bad about using it afterwards.
Some friends were freaking out about following JD Vance on Instagram. Then they realized they had followed @vp when it was Kamala’s handle.
Baby don’t hurt me. Don’t hurt me. No more.
We have an older 2012 1080p Sony 55" TV. Super thin, still works great. It had a few “smart” things it could do, like local tv guide, weather. Very simple stuff, nothing like streaming apps. Those basic smart things haven’t functioned in a while. Support ended for them a long time ago. I’ve had a negative opinion for smart TVs since then. Having those functions sitting there broken drives me nuts.
We always used some type of streaming box. Started out with some Roku’s for a long time that worked okay until they updated them enough to run like shit. Ads were never egregious but you could tell where the trend was going. A friend let me have an older Nvidia Shield TV. It was FILLED with ads for shit we didn’t care about. Google Play store shit, Nvidia shit, advertisement shit, AHHHHHHH. It too eventually was updated enough to where everything runs like shit. I looked into a lot of self contained media systems from no names on Amazon, but I just didn’t trust them. I could set up a PC to do it all and I’d be fine with it but my wife wants something easy to use.
Sooo I ended up going with an Apple TV. So far it’s been really nice. Zero ads on the home screen. It lists the previous content we were watching and then our streaming apps below it, that’s it. When you move the cursor over the Netflix or other apps it lists what you previously watched and some recommendations for other shows but it’s not in your face or moving anything around to do it. There are some apps you can’t remove, but I just made a folder and threw them all in there. It’s nice but it’s costly at around $140. So far for me, I’d say it’s worth it. We only use Netflix, Hulu and Plex on it, but all of them work great. It also supports the Steam Link app. I use it some, but I’ve started to use Moonlight that is installed on my Steam Link device instead, since the picture and stream quality is a lot better.
Obligatory Weekend at Winamp’s.
Does this mean the Internet Archive will no longer be archiving reddit posts? That’s how I’ve tried viewing most since I deleted my accounts.
Carbon credits are a bunch of bullshit so this probably is too.
Nobara
I have now! Thanks for the recommendation. That’s pretty crazy to think about.
I grew up a Jehovah’s Witness and disabled. I constantly heard how once the “new system” came by disability would be healed. My grandmother would constantly talk about how terrible everything is from all the “worldly people”. My parents divorced when I was a teenager. They quickly shunned my mother and us. Then again after our grandmothers death (who went to the church… religiously), we heard nothing from them. They don’t care about anyone but themselves.
Anyway, once I started Earth Science in high school and learned how old everything really is, how large space is and how truly small and insignificant we are to the universe. It put it all into perspective and now I’m pretty much an Atheist. I know I don’t truly know what is out there, or who created us. But I know it wasn’t some dude that did it just to set us up to fail. So why should I have any belief in that?
The scraped AI generated SEO’d to hell tech sites that push their bullshit registry/driver/ram software overtook anything actually useful. It’s a sad state out there.
They’ve already talked about adding NFTs to it. Winamp is dead and this is it’s corpse being paraded around like Weekend at Bernie’s.
Likely not since most of these are dev or experimental of the latest version.
Check xz --version
If you’re not on the two listed above you’re fine.
I think their first use of CoPilot was for pairing two Xbox controllers together for accessibility. Instead of making up something new, they just co-opt it from that and now it’s going to be impossible to google Copilot for Xbox Controllers issues.
Oh well, glad I made the switch to Linux.
“Well we let half the team go after the last version launched, so you’ll have to make due with what they left behind.”
Well I checked the controls and surprisingly they can be unmapped in the game. So that seems to have solved the issue for Helldivers. I’ll have to keep going through my games and see if any more act the same. Some games allow it and some don’t.
Foot controlled stratagems, reload and the Punisher shotgun ftw. Using mouse to aim.
Bluestacks works but it’s so uuuughhhhHHhH.
People don’t even look at AI generated photos for more than a second. “Oh neat, next.” SO much wasted electricity for instant garbage. One decent AI image has probably a 100+ shitty ones that are just wasting GPUs and hard drive space. When those drives are full and old they dump them and then fill up some more. A mountain of invisible shit wasting our resources.
