I wish we as a community could stop with this sense of superiority

Not possible in a Linux community. They have only three jokes:

    • Fuck windows

    • I’m so smart for using the superior software stack (and everybody is an idiot for not switching)

    • and my personal favorite: constantly trying to trick people into using FOSS software by telling everybody they’re as good even in cases where they’re clearly not (bro please use GIMP it’s actually really good bro as soon as you understand its archaic 1998 user interface it’s just as good as photoshop bro please)

What advantages/disadvantages does it have over Lemmy?

It has more features, such as flairs, a way to move communities somewhere else, the ability to see comments from all crossposts, multi-communities, and it has a much faster development pace. The UX still needs some work, but that can be improved over time.

From a technical perspective it’s made with Python which is much, much easier to use than Rust and attracts more contributors. From what I understand it’s easier to host too.

Can I see and interact with PieFed instances and communities from a federated Lemmy instance? What about the other way around?

    Yes and yes.

Is there a way for people to migrate an account from Lemmy to PieFed? What about the other way around?

You can export your Lemmy account settings and import them to Piefed, but not the other way around.

What android app options are available for PieFed?

  • What’s damning is how the most harmless subreddits is now full of astroturfing. Television subreddit? Suddenly the top article is praising some show you never heard of. Meme subreddit? Here’s a meme about some music video or hot new product. Game subreddit? Here’s some random cosplay girl that’s only here to advertise her social media.

I don’t remember who said it but there’s a general rule that if your subreddit has over 500k subscribers, it’s already full of bots and dying. Any mainstream sub is insanely astroturfed.

And don’t get me fucking started on social media twitter accounts. HAHA GUYS CHECK OUT THIS FUNNY MEME SHARED BY #WENDY’S!!
