A lot was invested on the promise of AI, only to discover that it’s not capable of becoming this “super intelligence” people were banking on.

A human has the ability to think outside the box when an unexpected error occurs, and seek resolution. AI could very well just tell you to kill yourself.

‘Political leadership’ doesn’t define reality. People are completely justified to assert rights even if they aren’t expressly approved by big daddy g’vmt. That is, in fact, exactly how most of the rights enshrined in law got there in the first place. The Magna Carta itself had to be forced upon the king through the threat of rebellion by the dukes.

It’s not having any downtime imho. The instant you’re done reading something it’s trivial to find something else to trigger your pleasure centres, so unless you do it through deliberate intention, you’ll never have time to sit and consider what you’ve read.

Nobody is going to regret voting for Trump while the left is still hard-married to reality denying ideologies.

They’re disappearing because they’ve been invaded by corporate interests, political manoeuvring and activism. Real people just want to talk with real people about shit without thousands of busy bodies combing over their messages for opportunities to exploit them somehow.

The decisions being made regarding how to deploy and operate the Internet appear, to me, to betray a fundamental lack of understanding regarding just how incredibly complex the information environment within a healthy society actually is, and how much people depend upon it to maintain the basic functions of human life.

It feels to me as though early man discovered fire and immediately decided to burn down every single forest they encountered so dangerous beasts wouldn’t have anywhere to hide.

Yea, both Democrats and Republicans have a pretty solid history of voting in lock step on matters of giving themselves more power.

Trying to push the entire world’s population into the same spaces. Sometimes, it actually does make sense to have spaces specifically for those with common experiences, like men’s and women’s spaces, or nationally segregated political spaces.
