All ads are garbage. There’s no such thing as a good ad. They are in place to push an entities will upon you, there is no upside to any ad for the viewer. Firefox and Ublock Origin for safety and sanity.

Didn’t think about that, thanks.
Disconnected my TV from the Internet. I stream media from a PC on my lan to Kodi running on a fire stick. Setup openwrt to drop all packets to wan from the fire stick. These companies can get fucked and if they ever figure out a way to stop me from owning my devices, I’ll just take up some new hobbies and be done with it all.
Logitech’s quality has been steadily dropping. Got fed up with thumb trackball buttons failing in less than 2 years. Logitech was my go to for most computer peripherals, but I just can’t justify replacing all my family’s trackballs every two years at $60 a pop.
Switched over to Elecom because they are one of the only brands selling wired thumb trackballs and so far they are great. It’s unfortunate, my first Logitech trackball lasted at least 10 years. It never broke, just got lost in a move. Used to love their stuff but, the only thing left from the Logitech I bought my first trackball from is the name.
This should be a jailable crime.
Every product that has overtaken another has started in single digits. This is hardly a point at all.
You can go in to settings and select what search engines to pull from. The defaults on that instance may not be sufficient.
Tried Redhat in the late 90s, but I really started using Linux with Mandrake, a few years later.
Everything is accessible, but only through n2n vpn.
Covering IRL advertisements is the only thing that interests me with this sort of tech. I would love to cover billboards with random memes or even just erase them. THAT would be a reason worth looking goofy as hell for.
Just download a copy. Someone already did the leg work and probably did a better job than you could, without serious effort.
I don’t listen to cultists…or their leaders.
Ah, yes, not 100% of the time. You know, like Windows. Thanks for the laugh.
I agree. I am a techie, have been following Lemmy for quite a while before the Reddit exodus. When I made my account, first I had to understand that each instance manages its own accounts and there are many instances. My initial thought was to look for one of the higher population instances, but I read that this was not necessarily the best idea. Then I searched out why its better to pick an instance outside the high population ones and that whatever instance I picked, I could view/comment/vote on posts from other instances. I don’t have a problem doing research, but I don’t know anyone who is not a techie that would continue past my first question, and that is a serious problem for adoption.
We dress our skeleton up as Santa for Christmas. Looks great with the glowing red eyes.
Commission is wrapped up in the sale price, not a separate payment to the employee that I decided upon. The company takes payment and then they pay the employee. This also makes sure the employee is not getting stiffed.
Yes. It’s extremely common to have some device that asks you how much you want to tip before you can complete the transaction. They are nearly always placed in a spot and angled so the employees can see it too, guilting customers in to tipping.

Companies usually have some metrics they use to determine if employees are meeting their requirements and these same metrics can be used for remote employees. The problem is, they can’t wring you out for extra work. Looking busy at work is important because if you complete all your tasks 100%, management will just give you more work. At home, you can complete your work in 1 hour and then spend the rest of your time for leisure. This terrifies management, because looking over your shoulder and squeezing you for extra work without more pay is the only real value they bring to the company.
So, this question comes from someone with no background in development or marketing but, wouldn’t this money be better spent on develoment or marketing of Firefox. I’m a little more worried about having a long term alternative to Chrome based browsers than self hosting photos. This is not a knock on Ente or any other photo hosting script, I am very interested in a fully functional self hosted Google photos alternative, but my priorities start with Firefox.
