wait. Does Western Digital own SanDisk?
This may finally be the thing that kills twitter. I mean. Twitter is the only platform to do something batshit insane like removing a safety feature like blocking. Twitter is about to become downright dangerous for marginalized populations (LGBTQ+, autistic, sex workers…)
sadly no
there are no concerns about potentially being sued. Section 230 literally exists. Section 230 says that lemmy.world is not liable for what users post. It is the users themselves that are liable. As it should be. If Section 230 didn’t exist, nobody would be able to post anyone because the hosts would be too scared about getting sued. (ironic)
Except they don’t have to deal with “legal shit”. Section 230 literally protects them and makes it so that they are NOT liable for what users post (it’s the users that post it that are liable – as it should be, tbh)
This is just some bullshit censorship. I would totally run my own personal lemmy instance, but I’ve heard that it’s not easy to run in docker. Hopefully over time it’ll improve!
Twitter doesn’t have to remain neutral, they can block, throttle or redirect whatever they want. Yes, they can. But that doesn’t stop that from being extremely anti net neutrality behavior. facepalm
Saw someone else make a good point. I hope all these people that shouted about supporting net neutrality back in the day will make noise about how anti net neutrality this is. (I doubt it, but it’d be nice)
you should check out linustechtips. The sponsors they get/accept are actually decent reputable companies with decent products.
Was thinking of a different, more adult kind of toy. Which technically I guess you could use a light saber for
they can’t even keep their power grid functioning in extreme hot or cold weather 🤔
It’s crazy how much the creator of pixelfed does. And it’s literally only 1 person working on all the things he does.
Session too. Not a big fan of signal since it requires giving them your phone number.
Wait. Is this the actually celebrity and not just someone using the name? Because honestly if this is the actual person it’s always kinda cool to see “famous people” doing normal people things like say having tech related or privacy related interests and hobbies (idk i just listed that because i can relate to it)
and this is why I’ll always choose Google over Apple. Despite Google’s flaws of surrepticiously killing their products. At least they don’t have these ridiculous walled garden that Apple has. See, for example, Google’s parental control app/solution: https://families.google/familylink/
Anyway, small side rant. I am a big big big advocate of parent’s doing their job as parents of setting up parental controls on devices their kids have access to. It is SO MUCH of a better option than the government requiring us adults to give up our privacy to verify that we are indeed adults to see adult content. Like, yes, I do want to see adult content. But hell no there’s no way in hell I’m violating my privacy with privacy invasive big brothery bullshit.
I’d recommend GrapheneOS just because it’s much more private and secure (and everyone should care about privacy and the security of their shit)
It’ll probably never happen because the unemployment rate for autistic people is 85%. But in an ideal world, I’d love to build my own (if there’s any sugar mommies/daddies out there that feel like spoiling someone 🤔):
Just for funsies I just built it in pcpartpicker https://pcpartpicker.com/user/JoshuaACasey/saved/cqjnpg
edit: motherboard seems out-of-stock, so if this ever becomes a reality, might have to make some adjustments for a different micro itx motherboard (plus compatible cpu of course. no biggie, thanks to the existence of pcpartpicker, compatibility is a breeze!)
especially on mobile. On desktop, where you have a keyboard and mouse, and even tools like browser extensions or whatever it’s definitely easier.
That’s a fairly common saying in the bdsm community. Don’t “yuck someone’s yum”
the one thing you do not do with this shit is use AI (too much risk of false positives. I mean, I remember Facebook’s AI thought that an onion was nudity (probably thought it was a boob).
But tools do exist. PhotoDNA by Microsoft. Although much more user-friendly implementation if you use Cloudflare, related links:
