Saaame. A sip of milk is like poison for me, 20 minutes later and I’m stuck in the bathroom for the next 4 hours.

Sometimes I stumble upon a random song on Spotify that has a catchy tune, so I save it into a playlist but don’t really listen to it until later, and in really hearing the lyrics for the first time, sometimes I’ll be like waiting a sec…is this about Jesus/God?
100% real. I’m not saying I’m a 10 by any means, but I can go from a 3 with no make-up and schlepping around in sweats and be utterly ignored by people in public, to probably a high 8 with my hair, make-up, and flattering clothes on, and I am immediately noticed and acknowledged. People hold doors for me, smile at me, stare at me. It’s like night and day. But I say this as a woman, so I cannot speak to the male experience of this.
I’ve always been a fan of space aliens interacting with ancient civilization on Earth, like in Stargate the movie
Gochujang is my new favorite hot sauce, I’ve been putting it on everything. I’ve also made Gochujang caramel sugar cookies, which are fricken amazing.
I do, but I need something with a different texture to go with it, otherwise it’s too slimy and gross. I’d never eat just cottage cheese straight up.
Before lactose intolerance set in, BBQ-flavored potato chips dipped in cottage cheese. Also Doritos dipped in cottage cheese. Absolute fire.
Silence, rain drops, crackling fire, a certain type of bird chirping outside (I’m not sure what kind of bird it is, maybe a Robin)
Hell yeah, I love to bake. I definitely prefer baking over cooking, though I do enjoy both. I usually make bagels or cookies, but I’m gonna try my hand at sourdough bread soon. What do you like to bake?
Yeah, I’m not saying you need to ENJOY it, just that you should be able to do it in order to feed yourself. We all have daily tasks we don’t enjoy doing, but being able to adequately feed yourself is necessary for survival.
I don’t ENJOY swimming and wouldn’t choose to swim for pleasure, but I know how, because I don’t want to drown if I fall into deep water. It’s basic survival.
I’ve met several people over the years who literally cannot cook a single thing for themselves and either rely on others to cook for them or live off take out and microwaveable meals. People who would look at what’s in a cupboard and would just go without eating simply because they never learned how to follow directions.
That’s cooking a meal! See, you’re doing it without even realizing it.
If you cannot cook yourself a basic meal (I’m talking boil water, dump a box of pasta in, cook it, strain it, then add red sauce from a jar level of basic), you have failed as a human being. An adult using the whole excuse of “I just can’t cook” is pathetic and inexcusable unless you have genuine mental incapacities that prevent you from learning a basic recipe and how to use a stovetop, especially now with access to the internet/videos teaching how to cook.
Is there a high percentage of vegans using cocaine? Genuine question here. I do completely agree with you, though.
YES, these are excellent
Like many here, I left reddit during the whole API debacle, and I was doing really good about avoiding reddit for a while, but there’s way less people here, way less communities, and while yes, I could start the communities I’d like to see on Lemmy, I just don’t think there are enough users to have engaging conversations yet. For that reason, I maintain my reddit account, so that I can have those conversations and connections that I can’t get here. I hope it changes some day and we can grow our numbers here.
I’d say Iraq, but being that I was there as a part of an occupying force, it’s my fault they hated me for being there, so I totally get it. That aside, America (as an American) definitely has unfriendly people that one is forced to interact with on a regular basis.
I made several large purchases right after the election knowing that tariffs were on the way (new brakes for my car, new PC, new AC units for 2 rooms in the house). I stocked up on pandemic supplies (masks, toilet paper, cleaning products). I stocked up on bread and AP flour (I’m always baking something anyway, so this isn’t anything out of the ordinary) and froze it. Stocked up on shelf-stable foods for me and my partner, and cat food/litter for our cats (many pet food items are imported to the US). We have a generator and water treatment kits that we can use with the running water on our property. I did all of this slowly, from November up until now. I am not one of those crazy selfish people that goes into COSTCO and buys the entire shelf of toilet paper for myself.
I’ve had a “go bag” for at least 10 years, so that’s always been ready. My partner and I have written up several “what if” scenarios and how we would respond to them (flee the state, or flee the country, what are we bringing with us, etc). We both have current passports. I’m taking a firearms course next month so that I can legally own a gun.
Some people might think all of this is overkill or that we’re being paranoid, but we really don’t give a shit. If it comes down to it, we can literally walk away from this house or lock it down and defend it depending on the situation, and if that makes me sleep better at night, I don’t care what anyone thinks.
Salt & Vinegar chips are amazing
I wish I had enough rhythm to dance, not like some amazing dancer, I’m talking even just a little bit. I dance like Elaine on Seinfeld.
