I would but my cares are pretty much gone rn. I don’t have enough time to do anything nowadays except work, doomscroll and sleep. All my mom does is browser and Office365. I tried to get her into LibreOffice and I saw her suffering through it for some time and decided to put her out of her misery by MAS’ing her Office.

I’ve tried quite a few distros on an MSI I got and it wouldn’t recognize dual monitors with Nvidia drivers on any I tried. I went with fedora, Debian based ones, kde, etc. And none worked. Had to go back to Windows on that laptop.

Ah my work laptop had the same issue but as soon as I saw it didn’t work I just switched to windows and it worked.

The only laptop I keep permanently Linuxed I use as a VPS lol. Got Nextcloud on it and a few bots.

Well, most of the time if you’re gonna vote you wanna be aware of what you’re voting for beyond “lemmy told me Sandra Buttocks is super cool and against electric guillotines for the poor”. Takes some time to evaluate people, parties and ideas properly. I was kind of obsessed with that “evaluation”, thought it was productive. Going to protests, being one in the hive, realized later I hadn’t built a life and a career that would support me well. Swapped my priorities and now I earn well as a software engineer, am building a new life I thought wasn’t possible for my family, moved them to another county instead of trying to replace the dictators cuz that’s less realistic. Simple shit that builds up. Want free healthcare? Move to free healthcare. More efficient than crying for it and becoming bankrupt.

You’re statistically more likely to advance your own interests through direct action than by being one of hundreds of millions of voters. Licking the boot of the lesser of two evils is less productive than focusing on building the environment you want.

found 2 problems

1. i wish to add instances that are not indexed in this db, not possible apparently.

2. whenever i set any instance as “preferred” (testing), it adds a new counter to Blocked Instances as can be seen in the image below.

We don’t interact with activity pub when making apps but with the api which is quite stable and very similar to any other app. The limitation is not activity pub. It’s that it’s hard and making apps is quite an effort, so devs will often prioritize other things.

to be fair you can subscribe/unsubscribe from communities. I often do this. If /c/news is too political, i unsub from /c/news, i can then go and find some other news community that posts interesting things that aren’t as political

similarly, /c/technology@lemmy.world is not the only technology community out there, as is obvious, so we can go and find other things :) your feed is yours! own it! don’t wait for others to fix it cuz you’ll very often be dissatisfied.
