  • Idk about the states but where I’m from common law is also 6 months and generally is considered if people are living together as a couple for 6 mos. then they are technically in a common law marriage. They can make the claim on taxes or health insurance benefits whatever other claims and it is legally allowed.

Two roommates who don’t claim that they’re married anywhere legally are not in a common law marriage.

Same sex marriage is legal in my country so I assume this rule applies to any couple living together.

  • I’m not intending to be that person but are you a male? Cause many women I know have asked for blood work when things don’t feel right and are turned away (and there are statistics on that statement).

I’m glad your cancer got caught and is curing up though! I just can’t imagine, after the experiences I’ve had with doctors, being like “oh no can you just run this test” and them just doing it.

  • Linkedin serves a professional purpose so I can see why it’d be the most consistently searched. Like even if people don’t actively use it, at least part its purpose is for hiring managers to be able to search a person and have their professional persona pop up. It’s the most accessible way to find a version of a person online that’s not restricted or under a pseudonym.

That being said, people that actively use it for anything other than keeping their resume up to date or job search/hiring are usually nutjobs.

  • I felt this way a few years ago when we had the idiot convoy ride across Canada. The flag became a symbol for racist, anti-vax, just general assholes.

I never was a huge fan of flying the flag anyway, because to me it represents colonialism, but I never used to mind it as much. Now when I see it out of place, I just assume bad, unless it’s one of our more cheerful variations like the indigenous design or the heart one that was used to show support for medical workers.

I see other people getting down voted for similar sentiments, but visiting the US always made me feel uncomfortable to see ALL the flags. I honestly haven’t been to another country that takes that much pride in their flag. Until the convoy, I don’t think I even ever saw anyone flying Canadian flag in their yard except maybe for Canada Day.

Idk, what I’m saying is, I feel for you, I understand it’s a symbol of your national identity, but also, maybe take more pride in what actual good Americans do rather than in just some made up symbolism of what they should be.

  • Oh that’s so stressful. I actually hate sharing my song and movie recommendations because I usually like weird indie shit that nobody else enjoys (as pretentious as that makes me sound). I get extremely self conscious about my taste in stuff and would 100% worry that I gave the wrong recommendation.

Oh god just thinking about this is giving me anxiety.
