Ok done a bit the reverse as many here: came from Heliboard and tested out FUTO (thanks to this post and some others telling it was great). And indeed, it works pretty well, better than Heliboard, especially in English (~40% of my use on Android - I’m French native speaker so most messaging is in French and I use English for some search, lemmy,…). So that’s say in French, futo is not as good as in English (suggestions are often less accurate than in English) but it’s still better than Heliboard. The swipe works better too (and doesn’t require an external (proprietary) library). The only drawbacks I see until now is the limitation to 3 suggestions in the suggestions bar, with Heliboard there was a 3 dot menu giving more suggestions and the lack of spellchecker.

A good chair for sure. I think this is the most valuable thing you can ask for.

It’s indeed noisy, we schedule it to run when we’re not at home.

A bit on the costly stuff but I find the vacuum cleaner robot (not sure it’s called this in English) very useful. The house is cleaner to be vacuumed every day (even if it’s not as efficient as manual vacuuming or cleaning). Especially with pets and children.

Indeed, being Belgian and an adept of the real French fries (double cooked) I was not convinced at all. In the end, I still prefer real fries but I find the air fryer very practical to cook (or warm up quickly - unlike microwave oven it does not make stuff soft) all sort of food.

Indeed, I was focusing mainly in the fact that there is not a easy solution to completely avoid this problem. Now indeed being able to mute, to ban or to “report” an user to his instance admin could be useful tools even if they are not the full solution.

Now Lemmy can implement anything but nothing could ever prevent blocked/muted user to create another account in order to continue harassment.

But it’s not specific to Lemmy and same with anything open on internet.

I think the only way to prevent such issue would be a system which would require to prove identity in some way in order to create a single account. But this is completely against the openness of a federated network.

On a user level I agree it’s a very good feature (if configurable, not just an automatic grouping of similarly named communities). For merging post, not sure I want that, perhaps a bit too smart… Now if many users want this why not (as long as there is a setting to turn it off ;)).

Indeed this would really be a game changer feature. However I don’t complain about community fragmentation, I think it’s great because the communities are not really identical but share the same topic, sometimes with different tone, moderation, …

For notes I’m using Joplin with sync with desktop client through a nextcloud instance. Really a very nice app if you want sync with multiple devices anc user friendly interface.

For maps OsmAnd, I even pay a subscription to support the project (and have hourly updated maps which is pretty cool when I fix wood paths in openstreetmap).

Really happy with this fork, using it for several months now. Also occasionally Unexpected Keyboard for termux / ssh / code …

I use helium314/openboard on day to day basis, but the few times I use termux or have to ssh a linux box from my phone, unexpected keyboard is really awesome.

Yeah of course, it depends on the method and lot of things. Anyway, I agree with you, I’m happy with the content and the spirit of the users (less trolls and haters than on reddit or commercial social networks, more like the internet users I knew late 90s or beginning 2000s).
