People are buying the tickets for the sequel slop. If no one bought them then they would have to be weird and experimental but that will only happen if enough of us said no more to these live action remakes and sequels.

I run a prison planet community here on lemmy so I know the concept and earth being a prison comes up in many ancient relgiions. The gnostic Christians believe earth was made to be a prison by malevolent entities. There’s a belief in niche internet circles that earth is actually hell because hell is not described as a lake of fire or anything like that, it is simply a world without god and we are simply repeating our lives and deja vu is just us remembering previous times we’ve lived. If nothing else, it’s a interesting thought experiment.

The bit that these people don’t understand is pretty much everyone has done and taken part in the gift economy. But capitalism has brainwashed people to slave over pieces of paper. But if you’ve ever explained the rules to a board game, helped family members with tech support, helped a roommate learn how to cook a dish then people have partaken in the gift economy. I could list a thousand more examples. Even leaving internet comments is part of a gift economy if you leave a comment, you’re not expecting anything in return and many internet comments are helping people asking about stuff they need help for. The gift economy is so engrained in everyday life yet capitalism just has decades of propaganda.

We need society to go back to our earliest economy. The gift economy, just sharing things expecting nothing in return. I wonder what life would be like if that was our main economy.

I read somewhere that reddit hasn’t made a profit in the entire years it’s been around. Only a matter of time imo until reddit is no more.

So glad I got banned from that site (Not for anything wrong, I just pissed off the wrong power hungry mods which resulted in a site wide ban.)

It’s a shame. I’m not trans. I’m a cis male and I have no desire to be female. But I live in a very trans friendly community and as such I have many trans friends and they need outlets. I joined a meetup group which inadvertly became a trans safe space (original topic was anime) and many trans people just joined as it was the one space where they weren’t judged. We just did it in the way of anime, like their only safe space is something not trans releated and this is despite living in a friendly city. I will be an ally to all my trans friends and support them in this time of need.

So I guess it’s free speech as long as you agree with the goverment’s speech. If not, then it’s a crime.
