I was liking Lemmy until now. Now I love it
Is that even possible?? How can the app developer not know?
Let’s take location for instance. Google can send to the app no data or the location. The app developers can tell if no data is sent back.
Google would have to develop, on its own against its own financial interests, a way to send random locations to the app. The app develop is going to easily see though that this data is not correct.
So even if Google decided to invest in this for the users, the app developers are still going to know
You are spot on and it’s infuriating in the opposite direction. I sub to a small local city sub reddit and people will post the same question every day instead of just doing a quick search to find that their same question has been asked 20 times this month.
For a while, I was still using reddit to go to those small niche subs, but now they are garbage too
