i’m starting too think being rich is symptom of a mental illness in many cases.
i’m starting too think being rich is symptom of a mental illness in many cases.
that’s so nice, pal! and yes, it’s totally understandable to feel saddened and angry at spez for doing that (i feel the very same), but we can compile that content here, and welcome their original posters to Lemmy when they feel ready. what it’s worrying is the hateful comments about redditors, calling them names. i think some people is becoming radicalised, and they feel ‘superior’ in some way to other users. i don’t think that ‘cyber snobism’ will help Lemmy in any way, but that’s just my opinion. thanks ^^
yea, spez is a piece of garbage, and he did all this for money. and it’s sad to see Reddit worsen so much, as it was sad to see Twitter become the same. still, spez enshittified what nice users made nice before. if we support that kind of users, i’m sure we can even surpass the awesomeness Reddit once had. because awesomeness is not Reddit’s, it’s the internet’s. no matter where it is, if we support, it will bloom.
well said. it’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. and spez enshittified Reddit because of greed, we shouldn’t be greedy ourselves, or Lemmy will get enshittified too. i would like to slowly make it cozy and happy here, we shouldn’t be competing against Reddit, because Lemmy is something different.
any nice user is welcome, please don’t make them feel guilty for being on Reddit too. we will slowly make a nice transition so people have the option to being their stuff here if they want, which is what we need. no rupturism, please. i think we should be welcoming, not warmongering. this was made for users, not against spez. it’s totally different.
spez can go and screw himself, i prefer to appreciate those who do good than to mourn about those who do wrong. don’t waste energies on destructivity, spend them on constructivity.
don’t compare to Reddit, compare to Lemmy on July, to Lemmy now, to what Lemmy could be if we work together. don’t get anxious about growing. focus on ‘growing nice’ instead of ‘growing more’.
we will make it. for sure. and it will be great.
have a nice day.
edit: i realize the ‘not against spez’ could have been worded better. what i try to say is that i prefer to focus my energies on nice people than bad people. i suffered already a lot bc of bad people and i prefer to spend my life supporting nice folks. sorry for the confusion.
i am hopeful still. and i prefer this to be quieter and hence, safer, honestly. personally, i am not an active user because i’m the type of person that feels shame just for existing, but internet is helping me socialize. still not to the point of having something useful to say without wanting to delete it immediatly, but when i see these posts, i automatically get strenght to give my support. i am not able to maintain a community, be a mod, i don’t know how to code, i just can post supportive messages or be a helpful user adding resources and so. but i should be doing more, yep. i am ashamed of posting, but not contributing probably would be more shameful haha sorry people… hehe
that’s horrible, pal, i’m so sorry :'( how is she doing now, if you want to share?
i’m glad to find similar opinions on Thunderbird UI!
omg, the part of donations didn’t happen to me, i think. maybe there was an option to disable it and i used it, or maybe i didn’t use Thunderbird enough to make those tabs pop out on my browser.
I hope this doesn’t happen often to you, because it looks as annoying as Outlook ads. i understand the Mozilla Foundation needs money but…
yes, if i find another email client that looks good, i will share it. my focus on the search would be: FOSS and simple UI.
thanks, pal!
hello! thank you for replying!
um… no, i don’t use advanced features at all.
but this part of your message: “i only use a smart fraction of Thunderbird’s capabilities”, made my mind click, as it’s totally what i feel as an ‘intended’ Thunderbird user.
for me, it feels like there are too many options, too many menus, too many buttons. it’s easy for me to feel overwhelmed or distracted by the UI.
i wonder if there’s some “compact UI” mode i haven’t checked out, as i am a very basic email user. for me, Outlook simpleness was perfect, aside from the ads and stupid things like not being able to write an “@” (on an email client!).
hello, i tried changing from Outlook to Thunderbird some months ago, but i found the UI very confusing and complex. does any of you feel the same?
is there some way to simplify the UI to make it look more like Outlook with no ad crap? i tried looking for UI addons, but aside of dark mode, i didn’t find one.
would you guys recomend a FOSS email client that you feel comfortable with?
thank you for reading!
so true, pal! slowly, with patience, no rushing, putting love into it, organizing ourselves, working smart is better than working hard and fast.
because of the federated nature of fediverses like Lemmy, it is very possible that many people are doing the very same task without even knowing they are duping each other’s efforts.
and that’s sad because if they knew, they could be teaming up, or splitting the task in two, in order to avoid wasting different efforts into dupe results.
i have learnt a thing or two about burnout, it’s better for me to make 40% planning, and 40 % self-care and so the 20 % of execution becomes piece of cake.
but this is just my opinion. anyway, please take care, pals <3
this is interesting indeed! could we help via donations?
i just wanted to thank you for doing your best to fix lemmy.world as soon as possible.
but please, don’t feel forced to overwork yourselves. i understand you want to do it soon so more people can move from Reddit, but i wouldn’t like that Lemmy software and community developers overwork and feel miserable, as those things are some of the very motives you escaped from Reddit in first place.
in my opinion, it would be nice that we users understand this situation and, if we want lemmy so bad, we actively help with it.
this applies to all lemmy instances and communities, ofc. have a nice day you all! ^^
thank you for your reply. yes, i agree with your comment.
it’s like internet freedom is a forever refugee in constant diaspora, as it is always forced to exile itself from the places conquered by economic and sociopolitic warmongers who only seek profit and population control.
all the time, over and over. one jump every few years.
but we will make it! ^^
i wonder if we will end using personal webpages with FOSS/affordable domains and integration to forums and video platforms, just to avoid some crazy CEO screwing our content again.
i think social media was good, but we gave the CEOs too much power over our content and accounts.
so… we went from “social media is where society creates media” to “social media is where tech CEO’s control and keep society’s media hostage”.
