Lols. Yea i actually hate that. No i gave been begging my org to just treat interns differently and actually help them rather than let them sink or swim. Most of the interns we get are expected to know all the ins and outs, but they are just kids yet basically. So i think hiring managers honestly should lower the bar and then the org needs to properly train and teach them to get em up to speed. Maybe it takes six months but it’s about time we start investing in our people.

This is why i went to Linux. This stuff needs to stop.

1. college doesn’t teach much.
2. college is still useful tho. It does require some determination and persistence to get through, or at least tolerance for dealing with. “This is the way to learn” junk.
3. most actually useful knowledge is gained on the job
4. I think most people fresh out of high school aren’t ready for a real job, but college grads are barely ready too to be honest. Hyper generalized and i bet most people reading this are actually very qualified, that said I’ve met many college grads interning with us who just don’t have the fortitude to do it just yet, hopefully by their second job they’ve grown accustomed to the dumb way of life we all call work.

But s-expressions give you power that other syntax doesn’t. Data and code as one. Besides there is no other syntax than simply that so it becomes much easier to remember random extra things.

Yea, the whole thing has always given me a lot of pause when I comes to GOS. I’m sure it’s still an awesome solution, but makes me think twice. In the end I have literally zero need or desire for anything Google running on my phone so I’m on calyx.

Everything is declared, from packages to configuration, and then I can put it in a git repo locked to versions. If something breaks on updates, you have free rollbacks. Which means you can’t screw up too much. Also it has almost all the software.

While that’s true, all the things they built are individual and open source, it wouldn’t take too much work for sometime who knows how to package things up for a phone app. That said, you’d need another device to do all the processing.

I’ll be honest, I’ve used scribus some and have not liked it. I hope that this makes it better. I much prefer a local Foss program to being forced to run a VM for publisher or make stuff in canva.
