There is no growth potential at all. They regularly bleed large numbers of users with their rando-bans, and the new user experience is so terrible that there is no reason any new person would ever want to use it.

I appealed it and it was lifted, but not before it was upgraded to a permanent ban for ban-evasion on other accounts (I’ve never had more than one account in my 14 years of reddit.)

Reddit has a feature where there helpfully link your account to stranger’s accounts. When the stranger is banned from any sub, you are too. But you don’t know you are banned from those subs. So when you innocently post, you get perma-banned.

People who call themselves “leftists” and hate “liberals” are almost always Stalinists or Communists. “Left” is actually a word that covers an entire spectrum of left of center: liberals, ultraliberals, and radical.

The irony is that the Stalinists are using a misleading inclusive word “leftist”, but historically Stalin and Lenin considered all the other leftist parties in Russia to be their main enemy, not people on the right. Members of these 2 leftist parties were their very first victims. All of them were killed or sent to the Gulag. And then later Stalin made an alliance with Hitler.

The rando-ban problem on reddit is its biggest flaw. I’m afraid to submit anything there. And I generally only comment in small subs.

Ignore all Trump’s meaningless nonsense and 1 day stunts. Instead of doing that, pay attention to his 2 big related things which are his (1) Enshitification Push and his (2) Fascism Push. Fascism involves Enshitification, but his Enshitification Push goes beyond Fascism and includes things like trying to normalize corruption, promote incompetence, and hugely degrade the quality of government. Somebody needs to track every single one of the specific details of those things. But here is what we do NOT need to do: don’t fall into Trump’s narcissism web and think that just because Trump says some stupid thing every day you need to pay attention to him every day. On most days you do not.

That is true for MS-DOS 1.0. But Unix had a tree structured directory system from the very beginning (early 1970s). And the directory listing command “ls” was basically the same in the first Unix 50 years ago as it is in modern Linux.
