Literally all the value of Reddit comes from the users, and most of the moderation comes from volunteers.

That is, everything that made Reddit useful was provided for free.

Now those jackanapes think they’re entitled to create money based on the free labor of millions of people. And what makes that more infuriating is they had the gall to call those volunteers “landed gentry”.

You’re conflating two unrelated things to make some weird anti-government point.

Conservatives believe that hierarchical structures are the natural order of things. That is, things on top of the hierarchy deserve to be there, because otherwise they’d be at the bottom. Conservatism as a political philosophy requires the belief that some people are just better than others.

A belief that a strong government is required to enforce equality in the population is nothing like that.

And if there is one uniting principle in conservatism, the singular reason why religious dirt-poor common-clay-of-the-West support billionaires, is that they all deeply believe in hierarchies.

Why do they go after trans-women but not trans-men? Because men are naturally higher in the hierarchy than women, thus wanting to exist in male spaces (but not actually crossing into them) is seen as the proper order, whereas wanting to exist in female spaces (read: lowering yourself in the hierarchy) is seen as unnatural.

Why do they fellate the rich? Because the wealthy are better people, which is tautologically why they’re rich.

Why are they racist? Because white people are better than not-white people, natch.

Why do they hate atheists? Because the very concept of religion implicitly enforces hierarchy. Sectarian disputes are just an offshoot of this.

Also, that’s already what’s happening? If you don’t want to pay for nVidia, you can get AMD or Intel ARC for cheaper. So again, there’s literally no reason for nVidia to change what they’re doing.

If a GPU and a hypothetical AiPU are the same tech, but nVidia could charge more for the AiPU, then why would they make and sell GPUs?

It’s the same reason why they don’t clamp down on their pricing now: they don’t care if you are able to buy a GPU, they care that Twitter or Tesla or OpenAI are buying them 10k at a time.

Okay, but then why would anyone make non-AiPUs if the tech is the same and they could sell the same amount at a higher cost?

What exactly stops him from having these people forcibly removed and/or their access to government resources cut, their paychecks held, their clearances revoked, etc? Who is in charge of those things that can stand up to that?

What stops him is people willing to ignore obviously illegal demands, and the more people that stand up to him the more people will be encouraged to do the same. Now, if Trump openly defies court orders and the executive branch has enough sycophants in it that they’re willing to help him, then it becomes up to us to solve that problem.

Under a law passed in 2022 (you know, when the Dems were doing nothing 🙄) the president has to give Congress 1) 30 days notice of firing an IG and 2) enumerate the reasons why that IG was being fired. The second any reason is given to Congress these people are going to sue for wrongful termination since it’s blatantly obvious to everyone Trump is trying to rid the government of anyone who could hold him accountable.

It’s not confusing when you learn that it’s literally the most profitable tier for Netflix. They make more per user from ad-subsidized subscriptions than they do from the ad-free subs.

All they have to do is the dance of “how much can we charge for subs and how many ads can we show before people stop paying for this tier?”
