Thanks. I’d say it was a good run, but I don’t like lying.

They are, but like I said it’s possible to create a self directed one. Essentially I’m wanting to hedge my bets. On the small chance that things don’t go to complete shit I would like what I do to be above board and legal under the (somewhat) sane® laws and regulations so I don’t get nailed by the IRS. Doing what I mentioned would essentially put the money out of reach of the US government if they decided to start seizing assets or if I were arrested, but still legal if things don’t go south.
It’s not an insignificant amount of money, but it’s also not enough to have a dedicated firm or person to manage all of this (if it were I’d probably be safe in this oligarchy hell scape).
Trying to get my retirement money moved to foreign assets and currency. Ideally I want it to out of reach of the US government so that if I do somehow make it out of the other side alive I’ll still have access to it. I believe the ideal way would be to create an offshore LLC and create a self directed IRA that I then move my retirement money to. I have no idea how tenable this is though.
Still, almost half are OK and happy about this 😮💨
Hell yeah. Halo Custom Edition will run on a potato. We played it in highschool off of flash drives on Pentium 4HT desktops with integrated graphics.
You joke, but I have absolutely created an ad-hoc wireless network and gamed with people I’m traveling with on a flight before.
That’s the issue I have with a lot of talk about equity or equality even from people on the left. They will practically make it their entire identity, but then when faced with a scenario where they could improve the situation overall for the group at the cost of sacrificing or giving up some amount of privilege or prosperity they pull the latter up. Everyone is about equity and equality when they stand to gain, but they won’t go much out of their way to help things
Note: I am very liberal in a lot of my social beliefs and have a very strong sense of or drive to achieving equity, fairness, and justice. Which often results in making a lot of the people I mentioned above seem kinda phony to me.
My personal experience with this is that I am mildly on the spectrum. Most wouldn’t notice or guess it though due in part to the fact that I somehow managed to balloon animal a lot of the social interaction and language abilities to the problem solving analytical part of my skill set. What this means is that I am always having to “translate” what I’m thinking into normal people talk and normal people talk into how I think with every conversation and interaction.
I don’t even have much of an issue with that aspect perse. I know I’m the odd one out, and while not fair it’s understandable. What is frustrating is how little effort others seem to be willing to put forth. This obviously manifests in relationships the most acutely. I’m not usually even looking for 50/50. I’m more than willing to do the bulk of the work. All I want is for them to meet me somewhere on that bridge. Give me 80/20, 90/10, fuck I’ll take three or four steps onto the bridge, but no. Anything that requires they actively engage in thinking rather than doing everything off of vibes and they nope out so fast. I have had so many conversations where I essentially point out blatant inconsistencies between what they say they believe in (like equity or DEI) and what they actually want said either explicitly or through their actions and they inevitably end up saying something like “it’s just my preference”.
Having a preference doesn’t just absolve a person of hypocrisy, bigotry, racism, or any other belief that disenfranchises or puts down the marginalized and outcast.
We didn’t deserve her, but I am honored and grateful to have had her working for my interests. What she was or wasn’t able to accomplish wasn’t for lack of trying.
Hopefully it’s a nice day so I could go outside and lay down in the grass or climb a tree to chill and completely relax.
One of the cards dangles out, and you do sometimes have to file the SIM tray down a hair (just the tray the slot/phone is not modified at all). A lot of the ribbons have an adhesive back and just enough length to curve around the body of the phone so that it contours the phone and sticks to the back.
Since I kept my phone in a case it was essentially indistinguishable/seamless to me.
Below is a link to an example of the adapter I’m talking about.

So technically if a phone has a dual SIM slot where the second slot is shared between SD card or SIM, you can still use both SIMs and an SD card. There are little adapter ribbons that allow you to do so. One of my previous phones was a Huawei Mate 8 that I did that with.
And yet they still probably won’t allow any third party app to have access to RCS via an API. FFS.
If you work in certain fields of engineering then you have to pass a drug test. The only job I have had where I wasn’t drug tested was my hourly IT job before getting my degree. I have never had to give out social information and I never would.
Good to know
Ooohhhhh, you have to turn Dynamic colors off in order to do it. I spent way too much time in that section looking before I posted 🤦♀️.
I did search this sub for some keyword and didn’t find anyone mention it, so hopefully this post can help that at least.
I have always thought if I became super rich I would pay for a bunch of people’s lawyers to force the government’s hand. Essentially the only way our legal system (in the US) “works” is via plea deals. If every case went to trial things would grind to a halt. However, even if a person is innocent they may not have the money to fight the charges or risk the consequences of fighting and losing anyway.
So basically fund defenses until the prosecutors and cops stop being lazy and actually do a justice instead of just a prosecution.
It’s an LSposed/XPosed based app called YouTube Adaway. It also enables background playback.
Any tips for someone who would want to emigrate, but doesn’t have any connections? I am an engineer and I have looked at immigration requirements for places like Canada and New Zeeland in the past and it seems like the only real shot I might have is if I work for an international company that has facilities in one of those countries.
That has been my specific issue with paying for any Google product always. I understand when I am using a product for free that I am not necessarily the customer and that money has to be made off of me or the users more generally somehow. That’s “fine” (ish, not really, but that has more to do with issues of security than anything).
However when I pay for a product or service, I want to now be the customer and I want to be in control of my data and have the company cater to me. If, when paying for a Google service, there was some legally relevant things in place that insured I was no longer being tracked and used to generate revenue via third parties I would gladly pay. Probably more than they are charging now, but instead they want to have it both ways which is just not OK with me.
I assume they will. The problem right now is how volatile and abrupt these policies are. If they make an adjustment now, sell a laptop at that price, and then tomorrow additional tariffs are implemented they may well end up with a loss on that sale to you. The pause is likely just to see where things will stabilize to.
