To me the funniest part is that telemetry is usually for ads to convince people to buy stuff, and secondly for nation states to track you, but the debloat crowd usually never leaves home (a registered address) or buys anything, and surprisingly apt at credit card points with the money they do spend (the og trackers).
Wow really put something in for everyone with that comment.
All these copium defend the market takes, you telling me Tesla, a failed venture living off government subsidies, is worth 16x more than the hundred year old Ford that actually makes a profit without fraud?
I got caught in the cupspocalypse 3 weeks ago, because there is an unannounced dns vulnerability, do I get to bad mouth the penguin?
Could you give me of something in W11 that actually needs tpm. Surely to comment this you have an example ready, I would like to discuss.
Okay but thats not what he said, the comment I responded to said twice a year a Windows 11 install will break which is just not true. And even a fresh install you can bypass that. And mentioning tpms? Literally article was about how guy is running W11 on a Core 2 Duo, what tpm he has? I love the downvotes though, reminds me the average person can’t read let alone think.
You obviously didn’t read the article as it makes no such claim and its not an issue unless you have a 20 year old computer. This superior smug answer based on lies is part of why Linux has a bad reputation. Yeah mb 10% of you guys are world class, and another 25% are competent, but that still leaves the majority of Linux supporters looking like ignorant idiots, like you could have at least read the article you replied to.
Average Usecase
Unfortunately the Source is a four day old tweet by a CEO with six months on the job that has the same amount of information as the headline. That this is the same CEO championing Windows Co-Pilot, his statement seems like a cry for attention, or an attempt to take credit for other’s work.
At least in America often the top-tier phones will get the best deals. An example is various carriers a few times a year will give you a new iPhone or Galaxy for free or low cost if you trade in an iPhone or Galaxy (often running promos even taking outdated and broken handsets Example Verizon iPhone 15 Pro deal). Very often budget handsets get little to no subsidy and worse trade-in deals. How many people facing the option of trading in a broken phone for a free high end model, or getting enough trade in value to buy a cheaper basic handset, would not choose and iPhone Pro Max.
Scaling, MacOS has no actual scaling it will only lower the resolution, and using Retina on anything that isn’t sold in an Apple store (and even then) just simply does not work. It essentially has no HiDPI support past using native resolution with slightly larger text that is not adhered to by most of the operating system itself. I am at a loss at why you think this is well handled, what criteria are you using?
I feel this is one of those few sectors, like wifi compatibility, where Windows completely destroys Linux, MacOS, and BSD. As someone who regularly switches between operating systems on bare metal & 4K, trying to use a HiDPI display on *nix is painful and will only kinda work with caveats after 100 hacks (as seen here), whereas Windows has a zoom slider that just works.
The real truth of what happens is substantially more complicated due to America being made of 50 states. The medical debt numbers are highly debatable (Related Snopes) and do not account for Regional differences. In some states such as New York there are catchalls/emergency funding so that usually anyone making below low six figures can get their bills paid. Other states make collections difficult such as New Jersey not allowing reporting to credit agencies, making ignoring a debt kind of a non-issue. Then there are states such as Florida that require the barest of insurance to keep rates low and provide no patient protections, so when an accident does occur out of pocket costs can be huge as your insurance covers nothing. In all these events the Hospital assumes that big pocket insurance is paying first so they break out the expensive menu, when they realize they can’t get blood from a stone they are grateful if you cover their wholesale price.
Well some practical notes, there are at least two states that completely ban private prisons, (New York, Illinois), and many other states restricting them. Also if you want American Federal contracts, you can only house immigrant detainees going forward (thanks to Biden). While not the EU anymore there are also private prisons in the UK if you would like to start closer to home. And also there are public/private partnerships available such as in Alabama where you can work as Sheriff and get to run the jail as seen fit and pocket the difference in reimbursements.
