  • We took a trip to Chicago and decided to go to Navy Pier. Traffic was basically gridlocked and the car behind us was not happy that my friend didn’t break the law and block an intersection. After the light turned green, the idiot took his massive, shiny, brand new, white pickup truck onto the SIDEWALK to cut in front of us.

When we got to the parking garage, there was a HUGE sign saying the clearance was 6ft 3in and tall vehicles needed to go to a different garage. The idiot didn’t read it and, even with the windows shut, we heard the screeching and scraping of his roof on the top of the structure.

The best part was watching him back out, hearing more scraping, seeing his surprised pikachu face, and the disappointment on the face of the woman in the passenger seat.

  • I go all out for Halloween. I’ve learned it’s cheaper to buy Garage sale/thrift store stuff like this for creepy decorations, than it is to get stuff from Halloween stores or even the dollar store sometimes. I have the coolest “potion” bottles made of old decanters. The massive influx of stuff that came into thrift stores after covid started, was awesome, in the most morbid way.

  • I’ve been opting out of every single one, but some companies are assholes and make you send it in through a written letter (Meta) or worse, automatically accept it if you’ve even just used the app/site/product after they send an email to you regarding changes. The fact that massive corporations also say all matters must be resolved in small claims court and with mandatory arbitration with the company’s arbitrator is incredibly illegal sounding. Fuck you AT&T. They were the company who fought for revoking arbitration rights in contracts. The Supreme Court decided it was legal.

  • Sewing machines. I’m a professional cosplayer and sewing/embroidering is a big part of that. My newest machine is from 2008. After that, they started adding in all these different electronic features, that are garbage. The machines both break easily and are limited to the technology/software of that time. You want a machine that can sew through leather and silk with the same grace, get an older machine. If you want something newer, avoid electronics or anything with a touchscreen.

My Husqvarna Viking Emerald 118 is so strong that when sewing corsets, my needle commonly punches through the thick ZipTies, that I use for boning, like they were butter. It’s a beast of a machine. If she ever breaks, I’m going to find a used one.

  • The scammers always have a field day with elections because so many people are too politically charged to do research. By LAW, every US campaign has to have the actual name of the person who’s sending texts and if it doesn’t, you know it’s a scam. If you have T-Mobile, you can forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) and they’ll shut it down. Never ever respond to these. Don’t even say “STOP” because then they’ll know it’s a number connected to a real human and not a business… a human they can scam.
