Kinda reminds me of shawarma. I haven’t tried Döner Kebab just yet to compare, but I’d like to try it out.
Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of car collisions, so… you’re making great progress.
Understood.
Check it out for yourself. You might like it.
Sadly one. It’s my own, and it’s one that I wanna get out of so bad.
And tourists LIKE this place?? I mean, good for them, but I just don’t see how. Some have even moved here.
And no, it’s not Japan. It’s actually its polar opposite (not literally). If Japan is known as the “land of the rising sun”, my country is the land of the setting sun. It would make more sense before the discovery of the New World.
Give up? It’s Morocco.
I’d say Metro was fine, but it was mainly made for Windows Phone and the Zune HD, and in my opinion, only works well on these two. When forcing it on other platforms where it doesn’t feel natural, such as the Xbox 360 or the desktop versions of Windows 8 and 8.1, you get a pretty poor user experience due to the design language made primarily with touchscreens in mind. People got confused as to how to navigate their devices.
As for me, I quickly adjusted to Windows 8.1, so I didn’t hate it that much.
I think I’d be perfectly fine living up to the age of… idk, 50, as long as I’m living happy and as long as I die happy and painlessly. That is literally all that matters to me.
If your life is so miserable, why would you want to live a long one? You’d rather end it as soon as possible because it’s the ultimate escape from horrors. It’s why when given the opportunity to have immortality, hypothetically, I always, and I mean ALWAYS, say no.
As for health itself, well… it’s your body, do whatever you want with it. I don’t care. My only advice is be careful out there when you do get ill.
After leaving Reddit due to the whole API scandal, I noticed that that decision was really a wake up call to take a break off the internet. Actually, it made me delete every “traditional” social media application, with the obvious exception of YouTube. I’ve never felt better. Being addicted to social media for this long can have some pretty serious issues.
Lemmy is pretty great, so much so that it’s a part of my username now (it’s more of a pseudonym now). In fact, it being small kinda encouraged me to take breaks off the internet. I’ve had one for like… 2 months perhaps?
I’m not even dating anyone. I never saw the appeal to it. I never saw the appeal to having children. I can’t even take care of myself sometimes, how can I be expected to take care of at least my hypothetical wife as well with success, let alone my hypothetical children? Marriage forces upon me additional responsibilities that I’m just not ready for, hence I don’t ever think of marriage.
To quote Margaret Thatcher, “a man who doesn’t own a car by the age of 26 can count himself a failure.”
I heavily disagree with that statement. Everyone has reasons not to drive. From disability, to cities being designed for walking and public transport, to being opposed to the pollution that is caused as a result of it, to not wanting to participate in traffic congestion, to not being able to fucking afford one, to being so bad at driving that you just give up after failing that license test multiple times, or to simple personal preference. Are all these people failures apparently? How does that make sense? Well, I guess the people who give up after failing the license test are, but everyone else??
My country is ranked most patriotic in the world, at 94%.
I’m part of the 6% who isn’t patriotic. I’m instead proud of THAT. Especially since we have an extreme football fandom that I’m really getting tired of being a part of, mostly due to the hooligans that resulted from this. After the last World Cup, I just stopped caring.
I would guess a lot.
This is why Blender is truly the best of us.
My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy A32, the last in the A3x line that has one. It’s really nice to have a headphone jack because… well, you plug your pair in, and it just works. You don’t have to worry about Bluetooth connections, or another battery that will die one day that you constantly have to recharge. Also, you get FM radio functionality on your phone, which isn’t really useful, but it’s pretty fun to mess with. I’m surprised Apple never had it on the iPod Touch despite the Nano and Classic both having it (some with a special accessory that unlocks the feature, some have it built in).
Also, support for my phone ends on Android 13 (One UI 5.1), meaning if I want new features (or even emoji updates), I have to get a newer phone, and that means either getting a lower tier model to keep that headphone jack at the cost of performance, or getting the same tier (or higher) at the cost of the jack. And I was never convinced by other Android phone manufacturers either, especially since companies like OnePlus don’t sell their products in my country, so my options are either Samsung, Google, or a whole bunch of Chinese companies, many have really terrible skins of Android. Either that or I get an iPhone, and none of the ones that are currently supported have the headphone jack. So I guess I’m sticking with my A32 until the day it nukes itself.
I love how Northern Ireland is south of the Irish Republic, yet every other country is accurate.
GBA: I really like the remakes of the first Pokémon releases, being Fire Red and Leaf Green. It just makes me wonder why they never went with Green for the international release of the Game Boy version.
PSP: Patapon 2. It’s kind of impressive that they made a rhythm game with an actual storyline, being that you’re a god that is guiding a tribe to “Earthend”, using a set of drums to give them commands. I thought it was the best game in the series, and even has a remaster on the PS4 if you’re interested in that.
Yeah, those are the only consoles I have actually played. It’s not fun being in a country where video games are astronomically expensive.
Public Domain Day. It’s the day when many works enter the public domain for use without getting permission from the copyright holder, therefore you could do some really interesting takes on the media. This year, Popeye and Tintin entered the public domain. Last year, it’s was Steamboat Willie, the iconic first Walt Disney cartoon with Mickey Mouse.
Problem is, Public Domain Day is on 1 January, the same day as New Years Day. People really love to celebrate the latter (not in my country, barely anyone cares about either).
Resol - can mean a number of different things. It’s the first 5 letters of the word “resolution”. It’s also the word “loser” spelled backwards. It’s two notes on a keyboard (D and G in Anglo-Saxon music notation). And it just looks and sounds cool in my opinion.
van - the Dutch word meaning “of” or “from”. Note that I am not referring to actual vans (the German equivalent being “von”, which also appears in a lot of names). Also I prefer spelling that word completely in lowercase.
Lemmy - isn’t it obvious? It’s this wonderful website.
Put them together, and you get “Resol van Lemmy”. It sounds pretty nice, don’t you think? Especially since I really hate my real name.
So I’m guessing I should expect something familiar when trying out Döner. Thank you for this info.
