I don’t think it’s a year to setup the software. Rather a year to load it lol. I’ve spent probably close to 4 years loading content into my Plex server and I don’t see any end in sight.
Just like the areas that exist outside your little rural area. It’s almost like either of us shouldn’t make blanket statements.

Lol I love how behind the times academics can be. This literally was a big thing used to ddos streamers back in the day like 2010s-2015s. All that needed to happen was they accepted a call and since Skypes peer to peer the hacker instantly got their IP. I remember Destiny being targeted for a while by it.
7·2 years agoYoutube literally flat banned any channel with CP in it. Regardless of what CP actually stood for, like say combat power in pokemon go… Lots of bigger YouTubers got hit with account closures for like a week before it got reversed.

Which are 2 contradictory philosophies, how can one simultaneously supposedly not care if someone’s private property is stolen yet believes in private property rights? The argument would indeed be if they stole the book off the internet versus bought a copy themselves.
Not at all, I simply recognize that the argument may have merit as I said. I never said which side of the isle I personally fall on. Also they are a company so theoretically the scrutiny on the methods they use to acquire data is deserved. Data has a price whether you think it should or shouldn’t.
No it does matter where they got the materials. If they illegally downloaded a copy off a website “just cause its on the internet” its still against the law.
Because its not literally using the same stuff, you can be inspired by something ala Starcraft from Warhammer 40k, but you can’t use literally the same things. Also you can’t copyright as far as I understand it, broad subject matter. So no one can just copyright “wizard” but can copyright “Harry Potter the Wizard”. You also can tell the OpenAI company knows it may be doing something wrong because their latest leak includes passages on how to hide the fact the LLMs trained on copyrighted materials.
Yes, but it’s what it is doing with it that is the murky grey area. Anyone can read a book, but you can’t use those books for your own commercial stuff. Rowling and other writers are making the case their works are being used in an inappropriate way commercially. Whether they have a case iunno ianal but I could see the argument at least.
Lolololololol I’ve had 23 files playing from a Plex server before on my home network. YouTube level? Nope, but what the hell are you talking about? Dailymotion has existed for forever, twitch is a YouTube competitor and has existed forever. you also clearly have forgotten about midi files, those annoying instrumental songs that played on people’s websites? All the rage in the mid 90s. Before you try to condescend you should maybe actually know what you’re talking about.
I don’t. Art is subjective, YouTubers talk about this all the time where 2 YouTubers will do a video on the same topic and for what ever reason 1 will do way better despite being made worse than the other video. People watch what they want to watch
No I quite understand how bandwidth works, you are paying for it because you’re paying Spotify lol, if Spotify get no monies from ads/subs they have no internet, they have no audio library, they have no technicians, they have no developers, your sub PAYS FOR ALL OF THAT. What even is this word salad of corporate boot licking nonsense? Especially in an age where fiber optics bandwidth is more than enough to push those itty bitty 1s and 0s through their lines to their customers.
You’re literally trying to argue the same as when Comcast and Time Warner intentionally slowed Netflix and other video games because “bandwidth”. Here’s again the issue, you pay for your internet, you pay for Spotify, which pays for access AND their internet. If Spotify can’t survive then they should raise their prices not try to hide behind “bandwidth” when we ve been streaming god damn audio since the 90s on copper dial up.
If you truly believe that it still makes 0 sense to use the violence against the robots who have 0 idea why they’re being attacked and even when destroyed change nothing(because destroying these won’t stop companies from making better more lethal versions).
You know I’d get the whole bandwidth argument IF PEOPLE WERENT PAYING FOR IT VIA THEIR SUB/ADS. Also every argument everyone has presented can be used for actual music too. You can buy the cd/mp3s and play them locally so PlAyInG iT oN sPoTiFy sEeMs lIke A wAsTE oF BaNdWiDtH
I’d contend it sounds exactly like a factory sweat shop even if the product they’re producing is for YouTube.
And that doesn’t change my point because even automated it takes time.
