  • I grabbed the app from github and jumped in, then looked through all of the posts on the front page with comments. Crypto, Musk bootlickers, one post has the n word in the title. So what exactly is this? Is it just going to be Voat again?

My interest is not in the Reddit interface so that’s not a selling point, and frankly the first impression of the users is bad. Is there a sub/community/whatever you can point me to that’s worth participating in yet or should I give it a few months and see how it progresses?

  • On work days I always get a good 7-8 hours, but if I’m not working I very rarely manage more than 3-4, it’s as if my brain feels like it’s wasting the day. I’m one of those people who can operate comfortably on very little sleep. I use a sleep cycle alarm that is supposed to wake me when it senses I’m only sleeping lightly or something, no idea if any of that stuff’s real/helpful but it can’t hurt. I also maintain a healthy weight (I used to be overweight) which keeps pressure off my neck and reduces snoring & breathing interruptions, that definitely helps with feeling rested.

Once in a blue moon my body decides to sleep about 9 hours longer than planned to catch up on missed sleep, but I either rarely feel particularly tired or I’ve been doing this long enough that I don’t remember what being properly awake felt like 🤷‍♂️

More screen space with the taskbar on the side. I only use taskbar icons so I don’t have (or want) programs stretching across the whole bottom of the screen, they just bunch up together in the top corner. Also 99% of the websites I’ve used in the past decade have had big spaces on both sides to allow for smaller resolutions, so losing that couple of blank centimetres means I gain a couple vertically that actually get used by the site.

  • I was very block-happy for half a year or so, anyone who was unnecessarily rude or aggressive (or participated in pun comment chains…) was immediately gone. Sadly you could only block 1000 accounts and you didn’t get your blocks back if an account was banned/deleted. With the entire list full I could never go and delete the old ones because 9 times out of 10 the page would take too long to load and crash, then if I did make it in the only way to tell if an account still existed was to open it in a private tab. Ignoring with RES was better and hid posts/comments completely instead of still showing them with “blocked user” replacing the username, but it didn’t carry over to mobile. Hopefully the system will work better here.
