Lol as if a tiny visual toggle to remove a UI element from appearing in a single screen is so time and labor intensive that it’s going to make it completely impossible for the developer to work on “more pressing things”. If it’s such a hassle to add and has no benefit, why did every other lemmy app developer add it to their apps, without anyone even needing to ask for it in the first place for that matter?

Just because you don’t see a benefit in it or refuse to doesn’t mean it isn’t a useful feature, otherwise it wouldn’t be in any of the other apps at all. And this post is a “feature request” not a “feature demand”, I didn’t ask that the feature be given some kind of special attention, just put it out there that it would be useful to have. If you don’t like that, move on. The post wasn’t addressed to you, it was addressed to the developer, so you speaking on his behalf on what he may or may not consider a useful or time-intensive feature to add doesn’t really have any value to me.

Conversely, I don’t see any downside to it. If it’s added and you don’t like it, then just don’t use the setting. It doesn’t affect you. Other lemmy apps have this setting and anyone who wants to use it uses it. No real reason for it not to be added.

I prefer not to see karma scores, not on my profile or any other. Karma ruined reddit for me with the karma rat race that caused so many low effort posts and comments. And no, I’m not going to just never go to user profiles on account of this. If profiles weren’t meant to be accessible, then they wouldn’t be publicly visible at all.

You can get the FFUpdater app from F-Droid, then use that to install Brave to your phone. But at that point, you may as well just use FFUpdater to install the much better alternative, Firefox, which doesn’t indirectly support Chromium engine dominance and doesn’t have that weird crypto crap Brave has.

Edit: Someone else replied to you suggesting Mull, which is also downloadable through the FFUpdater app.

Piped is a website. Newpipe is an app. Both are front-ends for youtube, but obviously non-mobile users cannot access youtube videos on Newpipe when browsing on their computer. While they both serve more or less the same purpose (serving youtube videos without youtube’s tracking), they are fundamentally different in how they accomplish this.

Ah, well, that sucks. Do you have any idea if the devs are aware of this bug? If so, I hope they fix it one day.

The notification to enable enhanced safe browsing even shows up when you’re accessing Gmail on Firefox. It doesn’t even make any damn sense, this feature only works on Chrome. And of course they’ll never add a “don’t show again” option. Think I might just set Gmail to forward to my Proton account from now on.

Edit: found an article on how to forward to ProtonMail in case anyone else wants to know how. Seems very easy to do.

It says a lot about that platform that I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it was a new trend. A very braindead trend though, because I honestly can’t see the benefit in lying about doing this. Attention maybe?

You can’t. It isn’t possible right now, but from what I’ve heard they’re working on adding this feature. No indication of when they’ll add it, but it is coming.

For now, you can use Connect to block instances. It only applies when you’re using the app but it’s pretty useful regardless.

Oh, I know what the issue there is. Apparently because Kbin is based on an older version of the ActivityPub protocol, when Kbin magazines are synced into Lemmy, posts from before the magazine was synced don’t show up. The only posts that show up on Lemmy are ones made after the magazine is synced, unlike the way it works between Lemmy instances where everything is synced all at once. I’m not sure if there’s anything the Lemmy devs can do to fix this. It might take Kbin switching to the latest version of the ActivityPub protocol for this to stop being an issue, but I’m unsure if the Kbin devs are willing to do that. They seem to be focusing on getting their API out right now.

I also found Kbin’s interface fairly awkward and all over the place. Lemmy’s Reddit-style interface is more to my preference personally. If you’re concerned about missing out on content from Kbin communities as I was when I first migrated, you can easily subscribe to Kbin magazines through the Lemmy Explorer, that way you’ll still be able to see stuff from Kbin without having to deal with Kbin’s UI.
