How is someone meant to guess what seems to be a randomly generated id? If they try to brute force it then you could probably set up something like fail2ban to block them after a few failed attempts.
I’m not saying video ids shouldn’t require authentication, they should but the risk of someone getting the video id seems fairly low.
It’s a shame there doesn’t seem to be an iOS app.
One could argue they already did that with Reddit Gold and /r/Lounge.
There is still: !whitepeopletwitter@sh.itjust.works
It does require a phone number. The option to generate a username is there if you want to chat with people on signal but don’t want to give out your phone number.
You still need a phone number to sign up.
I’m out of the loop. What was the last controversy with the iPad?
I’ve been using NetNewsWire. It’a free and open source and works with FreshRSS.

I would completely agree with you if that was what this feature was being used for, however most manufacturers use it to install bloatware instead of drivers which is not acceptable in my opinion.
Not to mention the huge security risk of running exe files at boot up that could be exploited by malicious people. I’m sure manufacturers aren’t releasing a new bios update every time they update their software so old versions could have unpatched vulnerabilities…
According to this article: https://www.techpowerup.com/248827/asus-z390-motherboards-automatically-push-software-into-your-windows-installation it has already installed services on your computer that persist restarts by the time you are prompted to install Armoury Crate. In my opinion that is not acceptable at all.
AI will eventually get so good that you won’t be able to tell if it is AI or not so the tag will become unenforceable.
That won’t get rid of it unless you also manually go into the BIOS and disable the install ASUS Armoury Crate setting as explained in the article.
If you don’t do this it will automatically reinstall even on a fresh install of Windows. Some of these bloatware programs will even install without an internet connection! This absolutely ludicrously stupid feature is called WPBT and is used by lots of manufacturers. Luckily it doesn’t work on Linux (at least for now…).
Mumble is an open source version of Teamspeak.
How long until it reboots when inactive?
This should be the default on all PCs.
Yes it does. Only the MAC address you assigned to that IP will get it.
Same although I found the reason at the bottom of the downloads page: https://www.strawberrymusicplayer.org/#download
Why can’t all cell providers have an agreement where if the user dials 911 or whatever the equivalent is in their country your phone will connect to any network if your provider isn’t currently available and route the call.
Being restricted to only your network when another provider might have a cell tower nearby with full signal is ridiculous in an emergency.
Doesn’t really matter if it is easy to turn off. By that point it is already too late, all your files have been uploaded to their server.
Cityfibre is good too. We are on £28 a month + £8 a month for a static IPv4 address with 900Mbps down and 900Mbps up.
