Can you make circles yet?
The article says it won’t affect existing free subreddits. It’s also worth pointing out that Reddit Lounge (a subreddit exclusive to Reddit premium members) has been a thing for a long time. So really, this probably isn’t that big of a deal, Reddits most profitable asset is its huge user base and I don’t think they’re dumb enough to torpedo it. Then again, look at what happened to tumblr, you never know…
I only use bluesky to follow a couple of ukraine war news accounts. It’s very good for that purpose. I don’t interact at all or read comments, twitter was always an absolute cesspool and I assume bkuesky is as well, or will be if it ever replaces twitter
From Reuters:
The Anti-Defamation League, which tracks antisemitism, disagreed. “It seems that @elonmusk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people are on edge,” it posted on Monday. In Germany, the president of the Jewish community in Munich and Upper Bavaria, Charlotte Knobloch, described the gesture as “highly irritating”. “Far more worrying are Elon Musk’s political positions, his offensive interference in the German parliamentary election campaign and his support for a party whose anti-democratic aims should be under no illusions,” she said in a statement.
Look if the extremely jumpy ADL doesn’t call it anti-Semitic it’s a real reach to call at a Nazi salute. And don’t tell me they are in on the conspiracy. Most politicians know better than to hold out their arms like that, Musk clearly does not.
Read it here, hopefully not paywalled https://www.reuters.com/technology/chinas-rednote-what-you-need-know-about-app-tiktok-users-are-flocking-2025-01-15/
Rednote with multiple SIMULTANEOUS video feeds sounds like a whole new level of brain rot
I’m still running an s10e as well, God I love this phone. It might be the best phone ever made, I’m not joking. I’m on my third battery and second back glass but otherwise it feels like new.
I did a little test with my dad, who has an iPhone from last year, where we would see how long a bunch of different apps would take to load. For all of them, my phone was within a second of load time (one or two was even faster). It hasn’t slowed down at all and it works flawlessly. Only problem now is it doesn’t get security updates anymore:(
Questionable if it’s really a Christmas song, but maybe “tis the damn season” by Taylor Swift
Neither of those things are true.
According to Wikipedia USA life expectancy is 79.3, Cuba is 78.1
Ranking higher education is much trickier but pretty much every list I could find puts USA right at the top. American higher education institutions are world class and remains probably America’s biggest competitive advantage (i.e. brain drain).
Also Cuba probably isn’t the best example to rebut the “why does communism always turn into a dictatorship” question.
“Parody, satire, or fan accounts are allowed on Bluesky, but they must clearly label themselves in both the display name and bio to help others know the account isn’t official.”
Seems ok to me?
Oakley, like the sunglasses company? What happened to them?
Ohhh that’s your profile pic, I was really confused how you got verified haha
I think the difference is that there is not really a Netflix-without-the-ads alternative for the same price. And if you are willing to pay a bit more, well, you can just pay for the higher tier of Netflix without ads.
With browsers on the other hand, it’s all free with virtually no barrier to switching. So I think people will defect away a lot more quickly when a browser starts to worsen in quality (especially since Chrome doesn’t have Daddy Microsoft to force users to use it by default)
There’s plenty of precedent for that though. HSA money, personal mobile device usage, credit for using mass transit… they are compensating specific things. Food is a bit odd to be honest; I’m not sure why they don’t just pay you cash.
Eh that is a thing for paranoid parents. Your family meets with a bunch of other families in a parking lot and the kid can go from trunk to trunk collecting candy. Prevents axe murderers from putting razor blades in the candy or whatever. It certainly hasn’t replaced trick or treating overall but it does seem more common.
There a huge difference between apolitical and not wanting to be spammed by left-wing echo chamber talking points. Who do leftists think they are reaching on Lemmy anyways lol.
Practically speaking that seams to have the same meaning
What about a circle that isn’t filled in
