I haven’t seen this in maybe 20 years. I printed it out at the time (on a dot matrix printer!) And read it to anyone who would listen to me. Thank you for bringing it up again.

I agree, that’s why I specified “make your own decision”. It’s better to have an informed opinion than just trust it.
For everyone suggesting signal, have a read here and then decide for yourself.
https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/8974
ETA: when I say “decide for yourself” I mean exactly that. I don’t think all the stuff written in there is true, but some is. You should make a decision based on what you think about those comments, not trust them blindly. But at least you can make an informed decision.
Yeah, I was thinking something similar. I’m not a DBA but it’s the easiest way (that I can think of) to record all transactions for a certain user.
Also that’s not how deduplication works.
He means/thinks that SSN is not unique (which is not a problem, just different design).
Of course he’s wrong about lots of stuff, just the nerd in me could not not explain it.
Danny Trejo is so awesome!
first day of a new school year “what are you doing in this class, didn’t we made you fail last year?”
I had bad grades but mathematically good enough to pass just barely. She was the Computer Science teacher and I proved her wrong more than once in front of the class. So yeah, she had a grudge.
so, French? :D
Oh yeah, I remember those. My solution was to not emerge anything for 24 hours, by the next day usually they fixed the issue.
Yes, I tried it around 2002/2003, back when the recommended way was from stage1. I think I had a P4 with HT. It was noticeably faster than redhat or mandrake (yes, I was distro hopping a lot). Emerge gnome-mono was a night run. Openoffice about 24hrs.
Lots of wasted time but I did learn how to setup some things manually.
In a vacuum or course
That kid has a future as a developer. Maybe even QA manager
Fun fact (not really), when docker-compose throws an error on a yaml file it tells on which line the error is. The problem is that it ignores any commented out line, so you end up guesstimating on which line the error is
Take a guess 😅
Oh man, you have no idea. I’ve learnt to wake up when the noise dies, it means something’s wrong.
you’re not wrong, but with enough drives the different seeking noises just blend together so you don’t hear the single one, just the wider harmony 😀
White noise from the slow humming fans, perfect!
All of this
It depends A LOT what kind of IT career you do. If you are a sysadmin with a shitty manager/company you’ll hate it. If you do helpdesk you’ll hate the whole human race.
But you can become devops, SRE, cloud engineer, architect, so you get all the fun at tinkering without the bullshit (most of the time, no job is perfect).
Well I only had one atari console, the one to play pong/tennis/squash on it with the rotating knob controls. Not sure if that qualify for a Atari dump 😅
