It’s not that they’re enabled, it’s that they can re-enable themselves after updates even if the users disables Snaps and removes snapd.
Had this issue with Ubuntu on my Dads laptop before I switched it to Debian.

It’s definitely more a habit of people who’ve used a smartphone more than traditional PCs.
I’m older GenZ and my friend group is split pretty evenly between those of us who had laptops/desktops growing up and those who only semi-recently (like last 5 to 8 years) got their first actual PC for gaming.
And you’re right Firefox does handle memory usage better in general, which is why some of my more “hardcore tab-hoarder” friends use it. But Chromium, not so much Google Chrome but mainly OperaGX/Brave seem to be the choice of my generation…
Honestly some people I know I just want to break in to restart their PC that’s been running constantly for half a fucking year racking up chrome tabs, and yet they still bitch about it being slow…
They’re off the chart.
Damn I jumped right from Pop_OS to Endeavour, then plunged into Arch before running back crying to Endeavour…
I missed a golden opportunity when I met in person someones Dad who actually did work for Microsoft.
I regret not asking him if his son has ever asked him to get anyone banned from Xbox Live…
Guess because it’s not really advertised on popular Youtube channels. which is where people get advertising when they don’t leave the house.
Was true up until Win8.
I wasn’t around the Linux space at that time but seeing screenshots of old Ubuntu Unity, I still think it holds up.
My PC is a PC, PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, GameCube and Wii.
My entire school had a banned words list they put on a board near the main door.
I remember walking in past the board one morning only to get pulled back by a friend, he didn’t say anything just stood pointing at the board…They added ‘Milf’ to the list of banned words.
I got multiple friends who use Linux at work and Windows at home.
Meanwhile the two of us that use Linux at home never worked in anything tech related, we’re just massive nerds apparently.
This might have been just a me issue.
But I used to be a long time Total/Double Commander user on Windows Vista & 7. But sometime after I switched to Windows 10 it stopped letting me change the default file manager to anything other than explorer…
I use the split panel feature in dolphin a lot. the shortcut is F3 if you didn’t know already.
