  • Hate the game, not the player.

Why not both? Of course it’s the companies not giving a shit about who buys their stuff and those idiots who actually buy cards for 3x retail prices who enable this kind of behaviour. However, just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I think it’s highly unethical to exploit regular people like this. Of course, if you buy the card you’re a moron and part of the problem but that doesn’t mean I don’t think scalpers are scum.

I think companies should do more to stop scalpers from buying too many high value items because…

Apple sells a piece of cloth for 29,99 and people wait in line.

…people are idiots and need to be protected from themselves.

Realistically though it’s not a problem that is going to go away anytime soon. Companies aren’t going to do shit because why would they and there’s always going to be sacks of human garbage who

    Exploit the weaker

  • I looked into it and tried it myself just today. For the most part it’s fine but you’ll have to be prepared to do some tinkering here and there. Most of the games I wanted to play are listed on proton as works but with some issues.

I set up popOS yesterday and tried to install satisfactory today via steam but it wouldn’t let me and when I filtered my games lost for Linux it shrank down to a very small list. Iirc it was listed on proton as gold or even platinum so there must be a way to get satisfactory to run but I honestly couldn’t be asked today so I set up dual boot and went back to windows for now.

I think that’s the way to got for a newbie. Set up dual boot and whenever you have the time & patience to try to get something to work on Linux go for it but when you just want to relax and play some games (or multiplayer) boot up windows.

I think Linux for everyday use is just fine even though popOS could use some UX designers.

  • Even just going off the article you posted “helped” is a strong word in regards to distributing malware through their framework. It appears that their framework had simply been hijacked by hackers to distribute malware and they had no involvement in that.

I’m not saying they’re trustworthy but the situation isn’t nearly as bad as this biased summary suggests.

The same website has rated express VPN as one of the most trustworthy vpns in their most recent review. Based on the high amount of independent audits the company is performing.

Definitely do more research. I’m going to look into it myself but I’m paying until June anyways and I don’t think an immediate switch is necessary.

  • Yeah, for me it always helped to think about what I was actually doing with my phone and I quickly realized that I really have not mich use for the most expensive phones. A camera like I’d get on the new iPhone for example would be nice but that alone isn’t worth paying almost 1k more. And aside from camera I don’t think there’s much difference for the average user when you compare a high end and a low to mid-range phone.

  • I need a new phone soon, can’t really wait until the EU regulations force companies to build them with removable batteries. I need to look more into Fairphone, hope that’s decent. Last review I read made me concerned about battery life, I really don’t like charging my phone every day either. Or having to carry a power bank with me.

I don’t think there’s anything on the market that comes even close to the modularity aria had promised. Moto z had some mods but they dropped that very quickly unfortunately.

  • You’re working on the assumption that they collect that data anyways and if they do then I kind of agree. But in the EU for example it would be illegal for them to collect that data so I sincerely hope theyre not doing that. Well, actually I kind of hope they are doing that and someone finds out about it.

Assuming that no one is breaking any laws here I’d rather get generic ads than targeted since I’m perfectly capable of making my own purchase decisions and don’t want to be manipulated into buying some garbage I don’t need. But more importantly, I don’t want some random companies out there having a detailed profile of me, that’s super dystopian to me. What if that falls into the wrong hands? Oh wait, it would already be in the wrong hands.
