I think Lemmy libs are the most embarrassing group of 40 year old dorks this earth has ever seen.

I mean why buy shares of reddit? What is it doing? It’s alienating users.
Literally every single change reddit has done in the past few years has angered the user base, and the bot accounts increase day by day. Go to any niche subreddit, like one for a movie series, show, video game, etc. You will see a ton of “what’s your opinion of X or Y?” And it’s always such a weird choice of words, and it’s clearly just a bot farming engagement to inflate numbers to shareholders.
I still use reddit, but I never post or comment. I strictly do that on one of my Lemmy accounts. And every few months, something will happen to make the experience worse. Like now, the frontpage “hot” sorting is broken. Just a bunch of zero up vote posts on weird subreddits I forgot I was subscribed to. Now I can’t really get the news like I used to on reddit. It’s broken, and there is tall that it’s a result of Elon meeting with spez to talk about moderating the surge of Elon/Teslur hate.
Fuck reddit, more niche communities need to come over here, because I’m so tired of having to go through reddit to fine things I’m interested in.
While you can’t follow hashtags you can follow “topics” like movies, tech, etc. They should do a better job of explaining how to use that feature though.
As for pixelfed, I’d love to use it. But the only use I have for Instagram is following local bands. Although there is a new site that’s popped up recently that’s like Instagram with a forum but only for bands and musicians to communicate with their local scenes. Very cool, old Internet kind of feel to it.
As a former mastodon believer, Bluesky is so much better. I’m sorry but the kind of content I wanted on mastodon was never there. Bluesky feels good. Things change, for sure. For now though? This is the best we have for a replacement for Twitter.

181·2 years agoThe joke about corporations realizing they can stop doing “diversity hires” really is true isn’t it? They can do whatever they want, their giant team of lawyers will protect the bottom line no matter what.
Little racist there my guy. Also, America is pretty “hard mode” for a lot of people.

31·2 years agoIt some ways it’s better than mastodon. Easier to start than mastodon. Less variety than mastodon though. Give it a shot if you get the chance, not too bad.
All that gameplay you described? Is ancient. The industry has moved on as you say. You clicked through menus and virtually rolled dice to do that. That’s so old, it predates video games themselves.
At least Starfield is more modern than turn based gameplay.
Exactly. It always seemed to me like the game was held together by tape and toothpicks. If Bethesda, EA, Ubisoft or some other bigger company had made the game, people would give it a 6-7/10 and would complain up and down about the mechanics.
My GF played it a lot and I saw so many bugs, quests breaking, and crazy difficulty spikes. But when Bethesda has some bugs? Oh my gosh, people start rioting. People just love to hate when they get the chance.
Stop complaining. Play it if you want, don’t if you don’t want to. People just like to be popular and liked. Everyone bandwagoned on Baldurs Gate being good but I can’t think of a type of game I hate more than that. Now everyone is bandwagoning on this because A- they don’t have an Xbox or a PC, or B- they want to be cool and alternative.
I mean come on, last week everyone was saying “omg Baldurs Gate has no microtransactions! Roleplaying! GOTY!” And now with Xbox/Bethesda making a game just like that, you guys instantly roast it for being…a Bethesda game.

I grew up in somewhat of a food desert, coupled with an undiagnosed lactose intolerance, I avoided a lot of foods, including anything “spicy”. When I grew up, went to a gastro doc, I changed my diet and now I can’t not have spicy foods. I’m talking about dousing everything I eat in cayenne, habanero sauce, ghost pepper dip, everything. Why? I feel like you enjoy food for longer if you have to take a bit to get through the spice.

122·2 years agoIt was so difficult to use for a long time, I only ever used it for breaking news. Then I finally found internet creators I liked enough to follow, maybe a few joke accounts. That only lasted for maybe a year and then Elon took over and it’s not worth downloading the app for anymore. Way too many right-wing conspiracy guys now.

No you don’t lmao. Stop lying.
