  • I dated my partner in high school and through university. We went to schools in different countries. They got a job in a different country before I finished. We’re still together.

There’s a huge benefit to being separate and together at the same time. You get to individually experience things and grow as a human, while also sharing the experiences with and of the other half of the relationship. Growing up together as adults can really strengthen your relationship.

    I know him

    he’s shy and introverted

    I’ve watched over him

I’ve helped him find a group of friends

You are smothering him. You’re not his mom; you’re not his brother.

People need to figure things out for themselves. Universities have strong support structures available to help undergrads through this difficult transition. Go to university. Gain life experiences.

  • Don’t leave famous anti-onanist Kellog out. He promoted the idea of high carb breakfasts to dull the sexual appetite. Contrast to the filthy-minded English, eating titillating substances like sausages and eggs.

Anyhow, there’s “dessert for breakfast” foods and there’s “breakfast” foods and it sounds like your girlfriend is a bit more towards the dessert side of the spectrum. Nothing wrong with a fry-up. Personally, I just don’t bother with it. Started off as intermittent fasting but now that I’ve seen there’s not a ton of evidence to support the theory, I just don’t because convenience.

  • Several years ago I inadvertently (because I didn’t realize who they were) got in a twitter argument with someone who I seem to recall as the creator of electron about how it was fucking embarrassing how bad electron apps are. At the time I kinda felt bad because he seemed like a decent guy and I let loose but I wonder what the carbon footprint of his little side project is…

I think what started the rant was that back at that time, if you scrolled one page back in a chat, it would display a graphic representing a chat while it loaded the chat. And the fucking software was sitting there using a GB of ram and couldn’t keep 5 min of conversation cached. Just inexcusably bad.

I don’t know who at Microsoft had such a hard-on for electron back then, but it seems to have spread and it’s still nowhere close to the good old windows GUI for resource usage.

Thankfully it has gotten better. Slightly. Still pegs my CPU but I think that’s because I have a shit CPU with integrated gfx
