We keep the front mowed for the HOA.

The backyard can grow until we worry about snakes affecting our pups.

We have a front garden that gets no care outside HOA recommendations. It came with the house.

Can’t wait until I can OWN a house, but the market (with all the influences upon it) isn’t there.

I’m saving, and considering moving to another state, if that helps all the pedantic monsters our there.

I having a gaming laptop. 13 inch Razer blase stealth.

I bought it for the GPU and its compact size.

Let’s me do some hash cracking while at work, though if its some serious work I’ll boot into Linux on my gaming rig and do it there, but I don’t like to tie it down when I could be playing games.

As I get older and older I have less and leas free time.

Was that based on a more adult (but still young) reading level? The name sounds familiar and I grew up on RL Stine until I found the deluge of books set in the forgotten realms (Dungeons and Dragons setting, for clarity, not written by Stine)

  • I was a severe insomniac at the time, and this event lead to a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder. It happened a few times, but this was the worst. Got on meds and have been fine since. Enough prefacing.

I was at, for lack of a more specialized term, my cousins house. The oldest one of them was right around my age, but she was out of town for a competition, so I crashed in her room. At some point in the night, I’m full on hallucinating after not sleeping much in a while.

Dark, cloaked figures, in the corner of the room, chanting in some language I didn’t recognize. I don’t mean I didn’t understand it, it sounded difficult to pronounce with a human mouth. This went on until the sun rose. I’d check the corners, and nothing, get back in bed and there they go again.

For people wondering, yes, manic episodes along with their common presentations, can also present as hallucinations. It took 20 years, from a diagnosis and depression as a child, to bipolar diagnosis, to fine tuning meds, to stable.

I’m dealing with a person resistant to any kind of therapy right now and I just want to scream at them that if their docs aren’t helping, try a different one, don’t give up. 20 fucking years. Over half my life struggling for a solution. It takes time and work, both.

If you need mental health assistance, or even if you’ve just had a really tough patch, find the appropriate professional for you. It doesn’t mean you’re crazy, it just means you’re struggling. They help with tools to help stop struggling. Sometimes yeah, its pills. Other times its adapting your behavior and expectations to produce better more satisfying results.

  • Don’t know much about my current neighbors and don’t want.

The people we used to live next door to were great. L came over as me and my BIL were handing out candy, and any adults got a shot if they wanted.

After the kids went to bed L came over to our place and we got ridiculously drunk. L passed out in the kitchen and we let him sleep some of it off before helping him back next-door when we met M, his wife.

Probably my favorite story is when M texted L and said she thought there was a snake in the backyard, and being drunk we went to investigate immediately. Not the expected reaction, so when I knocked on the back door (it was late-ish) I’m greeted with a double barrel shotgun. M apologizes and says its not loaded, at which point I drunkenly admonished her that if she’s gonna point a gun at someone unknown, it should be loaded in case she really needed it.

We got to be really great friends with that family, and then they moved for work. Still miss them years later.

  • Requiem for a Dream - Especially now, later in life when I see addiction in so many people in my personal life.

It is a powerful movie on the various ways addiction can take hold of your life, even with doctor prescribed medication.

That being said, unless you’re into the final scene with Jennifer Connoley, it’s not something you’d necessarily want to watch again.

Side note, if you did enjoy it and want a look into mental health issues in a similar lense, among other things, Pi is a great movie by the same guy.

I had some severe sleep issues and ended up abusing DPH, not for any recreational effects I just needed to sleep. 9 days without sleep is bad. Torture.

I took 30 of those pink devils, just to sleep. I was that desparate.

Still didn’t sleep, but I went out back for a smoke and there was a spider towering over the houses in the neighborhood. Didn’t think anything of it while on the meds, just went out front to smoke lol. Also I had some common visitors in the corners of my bed room, cloaked in shadows whispery chanting in a language I couldn’t understand, while the darkness and certain patterns began to warp around me. But at the time it wasn’t concerning. DPH is a deleriant, line jimson weed and some other plants - they differ from hallucinogens in some interesting ways. Erowid has always been a good source on various substances for those inclined to research.

For those who may be concerned, I no longer take DPH much at all, last time was due to a new minor allergic reaction to something I haven’t been able to identify. Something was in that hookah tobacco my body didn’t like. Also, I’m sleeping better these days - in part due to having the right medical access, as well as rigorous sleep hygiene.

Don’t forget potentially useless proficiency skills.

A rogue with wis as a dump stat provably shouldn’t be making too many medicine checks lol.

Ive only messed with that origin once.

I’m still exploring builds, not so much because I’m unaware of the RAW stuff, but to see how its implemented in BG3. I haven’t left act one yet, lol.

  • I use a double edge razor, and the blades I use are on the “nicer” end, cost wise, and it comes down to about 11 cents a blade.

Now, I mostly just use clippers to take my beard down to a level my wife prefers, but when I had a job I had to shave daily for, I’d change it once a week because the blades are cheap.

That being said, I still use the DE to touch up certain other spots and its been months and months… I should change it out now that I’m thinking about it, lol.

Yes, its 110+ F here during the day… the attic… well a few years ago we had a guy out to service…

He FELL down the attic ladder due to heat stroke. Its one of those almost straight ladders that fold into the ceiling.

He was thankfully ok, and after some AC and water, was right as rain… I should say, he was a young guy in good health, and not only that a friend of a family member. We wanted to take care of him, first and foremost. If we thought medical attention was needed (and my own ass has had heat stroke, I know it) we would have called emergency services. We didn’t want to stick him with an ambulance bill (no insurance, private contractor) if he didn’t need it.

But fuck, 1k roaches? You know what, I’ll board the animals, use it as an excuse to get a nice hotel room with the wife, see if we can both take PTO for the week off and take an unprompted vacay, while the exterminator does their business.

That being said, 10 years ago, when I was much much poorer, with much more tenuous job stability… I’d take a knife up for the human in the attic, take the body to a family friend with a pig farm. Pigs make the best witnesses. They eat all the evidence, and can’t speak.
