I’m personally not a fan of brostep, but I will admit that skrillex was an early pioneer of the scene, and a lot of modern edm is shaped around that era (which is moreso around the start of mainstream edm imo). A lot of the first exposure of edm for people was through early internet culture, which a major portion was mlg memes and a lot of brostep. For me, if it wasn’t for brostep, I wouldn’t have color bass (one of my favorites atm along with just good ol dnb). Even brostep brought a resurgence in traditional (-ish) dubstep in the form of teardown and riddim (not much 2 step though)

Youtube is not all bad. The algorithm is, but the vast amount of content on it means that theres some genuinely helpful stuff. Videos about repair and fixing, educational videos on any subject in the world, videos about acceptance and self love

There’s no hope for facebook though, except the not so facebook marketplace (im gonna need a resurgence in like craigslist for that)

The only ads Ive watched in the past year were ads from flex seal and tim henson, and those were technically just videos.

Public utilities are cheaper than private ones. And it’s not like there aren’t city programs for low income. Cali is far from being the most progressive (in comparison to the rest of the world) and they have plenty of assistance programs for all possible utilities.

They censored certain phrases and words, which they plan on no longer enforcing. I agree that they leave hate speech on the platform (reports rarely do anything) but the looser restrictions mean people can post even more hateful content and that paves the way for discrimatory ideologies

I dont think fact checking was the main reason, moreso that they decided to allow hate speech (e.g. They’re allowing targetted hate against LGBT groups).

I unironically use ytmusic more than spotify because finding niche artists is a lot more easier, which is basically the entirety of edm and its many subgenres.
