Nothing of substance to add, but for the record Jay Graber is a woman

THE TURKEY’S A LITTLE DRY???
I wish for a turkey sandwich, on rye bread, with lettuce AND mustard. And I don’t want any zombie turkeys, I don’t want to turn into a turkey myself, and I don’t want any other weird surprises, got it?
Indeed, what’s perhaps most striking about GenCast is that it requires significantly less computing power than traditional physics-based ensemble forecasts like ENS. According to Google, a single one of its TPU v5 tensor processing units can produce a 15-day GenCast forecast in eight minutes. By contrast, it can take a supercomputer with tens of thousands of processors hours to produce a physics-based forecast.
So it’s more accurate and uses significantly less computing power than current systems. Nice!

Didn’t realize how big it was in India, 16.21%!
not Foss, Google app warning, don’t shoot me
Google has an app called Reading Mode that you can trigger by holding both volume buttons. Works anywhere and has dictation, but the output isn’t as good as the Firefox one in my experience.
Personally, I just use it in a web browser for ad-hoc file uploads. If you’re looking for regular syncing though, supposedly rclone works. https://docs.s3drive.app/setup/providers/#usernamepassword-setup
I actually hadn’t noticed it’s not there for mobile, but there’s search in the desktop view of the website
I don’t browse or even log in to reddit anymore. I don’t feel bad for searching out specific things. Since the audience is so much larger, there’s niches that just haven’t been replaced by Lemmy or other services. Sports, media discussion, and old tech advice threads are the ones I’ll still go over for.
