  • Another hole can carry analogue audio? I think you’re referring to a USB port when you say “another hole can do the same job”, but obviously it can’t carry analogue audio. You need an external DAC to convert the digital audio it can output, to analogue. (The phone already has an internal DAC so this is dumb)

And then of course you run into the issue of being unable to use it while the phone is charging because you have 1 port for 2 different jobs

Not all of us like the idea of wireless earphones, there are still many who prefer to spend good money on nice IEMs or headphones that don’t have to be charged to work, rather than overly expensive, subpar wireless options that will inevitably turn into e-waste when the batteries can no longer hold a charge.

Not to mention the ubiquity of the 6.5mm/3.5mm jack, this is standard across every piece of music gear you can think of from synthesizers to electronic drum kits to guitars, pedals, and interfaces.

You certainly don’t walk into a recording studio and find USB C ports to plug into

  • The initial investment can be steep, but if you stick with buying second hand modules and look for deals, it’s easier. Plus the spending only really goes down over time, at a certain point you realize you have all the modules you need, and you find yourself only buying a module or 2 a year.

Also modular stuff holds its value really well. If you buy second hand, you can basically sell a piece of gear for what you paid for it, so if you get something you don’t love, you don’t lose much.

Having said that, cardinal and vcv rack is great, vcv rack is where I started and I used that for a few years before taking the plunge

  • The phones with those features have been discontinued but they were never unpopular, they were just what phones were.

Nobody 10 years ago was saying “I wish I couldn’t replace my phone battery” or “I hate that I have the option to plug my wired IEMs into my phone”

People just do what people are good at. Adapting.

Manufacturers have taken these options away because it is profitable to do so. People have largely adapted to that (although I still refuse to buy a phone without a headphone jack)

  • Completely depends on if your parents are in your life, if they’re good people and treat you with love and respect.

Also depends on your parents financial status, as well as your financial status.

Most people my age (Millenial) are not as well off as our parents so it wouldn’t make sense to support them.

There is no single answer to your question other than “it depends”

  • Art gallery followed by some lunch, then visit a record store.

This way you get to know the person’s tastes in art and you can judge if you’re compatible. If they don’t like the art you like it’s probably not a good fit. If they pick up a Taylor Swift album I know it’s not gonna work.

I think a person’s taste in art is a very good indicator. And if they’re not really into art or music then they’re not a good match
