Yeah, the data is used to create profiles of you to serve more relevant ads, so that advertisers pay them more. Thats more accurate once I think about it a little.
Yep, thats true.
I do use a VPN and browse via incognito/Firefox though, so my chances of being tracked are pretty low.
So he can sell your data to advertisers. Yeah, don’t use anything made by Meta that is connected to the internet.
Why does Zuck want to know the browser histories of people on the internet? 😳
Ironically, I accidentally found the saved part yesterday trying to find something I posted, but that was quite an informative guide! However, apparently something you save via the wefwef save button doesn’t actually save, the button seems just for show. Thought it was a .world bug at first, with the influx of Redditors happening yesterday.
Definitely. More lemmings (lemons? lemmers?) are always good!
Best form there is!

Wefwef has a save button but I don’t know where the saved content goes.
For credit cards, companies sometimes charge a 2.xx% convenience fee because credit card companies take a 2.xx% cut, leaving them with only ~98% of what you paid them. But yeah, $6 convenience fee for a ~$55 purchase is absurd.
Comment karma is harder to gain than post karma, which is why many Reddit mods (including me) use it as a metric instead of combined karma. That is what I intended to say. Sorry about the confusion.
I was browsing Apollo when it crashed. Fuck spez.
Not necessarily. New users gravitate towards established, large instances, such as lemmy.world and lemmy.ml. Expanding horizontally would just create a few laggy and overflowing instances, and a bunch of tiny instances no one uses.
Yep, also an issue here (Firefox ftw!)
Good luck! Posted 19:59 CET.
should’ve only removed “ice” 😳
I can see your comment (lemmy.world). Might be a bug, or the influx of new users causing lags in some instances.
This is something I had neglected to think of. A reward/points system leads to bots farming for points, then selling the account. On the other hand, karma can be a good indicator to community moderators of weather that user isn’t just a spam account.
Edit: To clarify comment karma is a good metric for mods, not post karma. Its much harder to gain karma via comments because you can’t just repost r/oddlysatisfying shit, but that could change with GPT and open source LLMs.
There is a scientific reason for this. Prepare for minor text wall.
When you fall asleep, your brain erases temporary memory and “closes” permanent memory so that nothing can be stored to it during sleep. This is also the reason you can’t remember what you did a few minutes before falling asleep. Therefore, your dreams are stored in temp memory and you can only remember them for a little bit after waking.
Don’t quote me on this, I found it somewhere, and my somewheres tend to be pretty reliable, but I’m too lazy to fact-check. Feel free to downvote if wrong.
