I suspect it’s partly a safety / comfort thing, female drivers don’t necessarily want to be hit on or harassed by every other male passenger they pick up.
They do exist, I just assume they’re armed in case they pick up some dude that starts acting up… The one woman I personally knew that was an uber driver always had a weapon her on side of the car just in case.
I have photic sneeze reflex aka sudden exposure to bright light tends to make me sneeze. Usually happens if I’ve been indoors for a while and then walk out into a bright sunny day.
For a long time never really thought about it, just figured it was a normal thing. Wasn’t until adulthood that I started noticing most people don’t do that and looked it up. If Wikipedia is correct 18% - 35% of the world’s population has that condition.
That’s not normal. Not trying to sound harsh but most likely your dad doesn’t know what he’s doing / has no money to properly maintain or fix/replace the heating system you’re using now. Not sure what type of system you guys use but generally speaking well maintained heating systems do need some maintenance every year to keep them running efficiently. Usually the household does that sort of work in the fall/early winter.
Or maybe your dad is such a penny pincher that they think $2500 or the $ for proper yearly maintenance is more money vs using space heaters. That kind of thinking is a bit silly since usually the electric bills you accumulate year over year running space heaters in every room adds up to way more than just fixing the heating system properly.
Hang them so the clothes can still air out but keep them separate from the 100% clean clothes e.g. section off part of a closet or use a different closet or rack or anything you can put clothes hangers on.
Haven’t heard of any, but I imagine something like that would be on its own Lemmy instance that may end up getting blocked by tons of other instances.

For me it was eggs. My mom wasn’t that great a cook and she’d only make two types of eggs: hard boiled eggs or these sort of way way overcooked sunny side up eggs. Never liked either so grew up thinking I just don’t like eating eggs.
Later on as I got older I realized there are other egg dishes and I actually really like eggs. Scrambled eggs is pretty much my favorite breakfast. A close second is egg and cheese on a bagel.
Agreed with the other comment, the sealed oil radiator heaters are near silent (no fan) and have no trouble heating up a small/mid sized room after some time. The newer ones nowadays have a thermostat so you can set the temperature to something specific & have it heat up to that temperature.
True, forgot all about the Pro/Home differences. Yet another reason to avoid Windows Home editions. To be fair OP didn’t mention if they are on Windows 11 Home or Pro but perhaps you’re right maybe they’re on a Home edition.
Another comment mentioned Rufus which works well for Windows 11 Pro but I haven’t tested it with a current Windows 11 Home installer so can’t be sure how well it works for that.
Ah yes forgot about Rufus, good tip! Never tested it with the current installer for Windows 11 Home but hopefully it still works fine.
Haven’t tested this with the most recent Windows 11 installer but in the past what I do during the install is select that I’m setting the system up for a corporate / domain account. From there it allows to enter a normal Windows username/password like normal (you don’t actually need a domain name but you can make one up if you want).

Video editing / post production is the type of work that you need to have contacts in the industry to really get by. So you’d still apply to job postings but after a while the different production crews working on projects will have your info & can book you on future gigs when things go well.
I am not in that field but have a few friends/family doing it. Traditionally the majority of those type of jobs tend to be in the NYC area or southern California. I know people use Mandy to look for those type of jobs but I’m not too up to date on other places. That yt site you mentioned seems a bit hacky, maybe designed to attract beginner youtube influencer types.

Yes definitely. Try pressing the Windows key and type the first few letters of the app name you’re looking for, it’s way way faster than mousing around clicking and scrolling through the Start Menu.
Also Windows key + E to open the file explorer gets used a lot. And windows key + L to lock the screen, I do that one a lot when walking away from the desktop at work.
I rarely block people. I find it better just to leave Lemmy communities with problematic/annoying users… lemmy.world communities are the worst in that sense.
e.g. it might be me commenting in a non-political community about something random and then people jumping in and politicizing the thread and/or anything I wrote there. If I wanted to talk politics I’d join a politics sub, dealing with people that turn each and every post into something political gets old fast. And if the community moderators aren’t interested in moderating that shit then what’s the point sticking around in that community? So rather than block people I just leave those communities entirely & move on.
I’d definitely notice, mine is less than a year old so I still remember thinking about which side I wanted the refrigerator to open towards.
Plus right now it opens facing the rest of the kitchen area/counter and that works for me. If that suddenly got reversed it’d be a noticeable and annoying change.
Another thing I don’t get is people posting questions and then never engaging with the comments. Not answering follow-up questions or up-/downvoting answers.
On Reddit those were often bots attempting to establish an account with fake posts and karma before using it for spam. Not sure about Lemmy.
Instance owners can and should prune those type of inactive communities. Other instances do that sort of cleanup, not sure about lemmy.world’s own policy for that.
That’s fair, I wasn’t aware of what their specific arrangement was. Sort of suspected the K-9 dev was hired by Mozilla or they agreed to work together, that’s usually how these things go.
