  • You’re right, it is unfair of me to write these people off. Slacktivism is no substitute for real activism.

It’s just disheartening, weird, and scary seeing everyone repost the same instagram post like little worker bees.

And personally, I don’t think these people are doing anything behind the scenes to push for change. I suppose I’m just cynical.

  • My grievances come from the fact that there’s no counterweight. Posting this type of thing is not inherently bad, but it’s all these people ever post.

I agree, people can enjoy things I don’t enjoy! But by exclusively posting vapid content, they are diluting the content pool and drowning out what is important.

Your inaction is your admission of acceptance.

  • What I really appreciate about Lemmy is that broadly there is an unspoken rule that constructive dialogue is the only option.

You can say something stupid or misinformed, and instead of ripping you to shreds or vilifying you, the fellow strangers that choose to respond will usually do so in a polite, constructive way. They will put effort into their argument to make sure it’s understood and sound.

Once that unwritten rule is no longer abided by, the ship has already left the port and there’s no recovering. I hope it stays that way for the foreseeable future.

  • On the 22nd of July, 2025, a breach to Meta’s data centers uncovered an erotic video that showed Mark Zuckerberg engaging in explicit acts with Sam Altman. At just over 2 minutes long, the video displays in vivid detail the disrobing, touching, and climax of each man at the hands of the other.

When questioned, Zuckerberg had this to say:

“I mean, it’s just a kind of, we both like AI, and that’s what brought us together initially. We both want to make human lives better. After some discussion, we figured to start small; we certainly made each others’ lives better that night”!

  • Yeah… I hardly ever remember my dreams, but last night had some very odd and vivid nightmares with interesting real-life occurrences following thereafter.

    1. my wife and I were at a College pool party. The pool was situated in the center of various two-story apartment buildings, which had balconies facing the pool.

All is well initially, but then it gets cramped. People keep showing up. Everyone in the pool begins to plod around in circles, like the kids would do in the kiddie pool to make whirlpools.

People continue to show up. Eventually, the sky darkens to a sickly green, and people begin to fall from the balconies and slam onto the pavement as they are pushed from their vantages by new arrivals. The pool sees people drowning and trampled underfoot by the masses. Dream over.

    1. my wife and I needed to get some clothes tailored. My wife suggests we visit someone she found on Facebook marketplace or something, as it’s a “better value”. We arrive at a run-down but not decrepit house akin to the ones you’d see in lower middle class neighborhoods (in the conventional sense of the term) and the tailor walks out, greeting us. She is blind, but very kind.

When we arrive to pick up the clothes, the lady invites us in. Once we get in, all lights go out, and she starts gyrating and holding her hands up. The temperature drops dramatically and I feel an uneasy presence. Dream over.

After I awoke from the second dream, I had noticed our apartment’s WiFi had cut out at almost the same time. I know it was almost the same time, because our TV was playing a rain livestream all night, and the TV screensaver pops up after 5 minutes of buffering. The screensaver popped up right after I had finished using the bathroom; I reckon I was in the BR for about five minutes.

Really weird, and typing this out has me scratching my head further. Cased the whole apartment, but everything was normal, so I went back to bed. Rain started back up about a minute or two after I laid back down.
