Globally, glass manufacturing emits at least 86 million tons of carbon dioxide annually. However, a new type of glass called LionGlass, developed by Penn State researchers, offers the potential to reduce this carbon output by 50%. Not only does this innovative glass demand considerably less energy f

    Glass that’s greener?

Shouldn’t it be the grass that’s always greener?

I’m still waiting until we switch to transparent aluminum. some crazy Scottish guy in San Fransisco traded the formula for a bunch of plexiglas back in the mid-80s.

That’s a ceramic. Not exactly what people mean when they say “aluminum.” I mean, if that’s considered aluminum, then so is sapphire.

            neither is “transparent”

this IS what I was talking about, or, rather, the real-world version of it. I was making a Star Trek reference in my previous comment, for those who didn’t catch it.

they don’t say but it uses significantlly less energy which I believe is the biggest expense in glassmaking. Im hoping it can be a replacement and that we might see more glass containers come back given its greater strength thus lower chance at shattering from a fall.
