      You’re correct, but the word has been rendered pretty much useless through misuse and now means “anything funny shared online.”

        Not comics. Not screenshots from twitter. Not unaltered pictures.

        Images with added or altered text. Simple enough. If I do a search for “meme” I don’t get any of the items above.

        This community quickly turned into a garbage dump of no-effort posts that all get upvoted. It sad.

          So rage comics aren’t memes then? That’s the beauty of language. It’s always changing whether we like it or not. The one that gets me is how people are calling photos screenshots sometimes now. Makes me wanna buy a cane so I can wave it around angrily
